Some excellent news has come to my attention tonight.
Since last year, there had been a bit of rumor that Sam Raimi was interested in working with author Terry Goodkind to transform his Sword Of Truth novels into some kind of television adaptation. I just learned through news on SciFi Wire and Goodkind's own website that this plan has finally come to fruition.
The Legend of the Seeker TV series has been announced, set to premiere on November 1. The intial season will run for 22 episodes and cover the entire first book, Wizard's First Rule. Goodkind chose to work with Raimi especially because the director wanted to stay true to the books; Goodkind had previously turned down all feature film offers because he did not want his epic novels to be condensed and butchered into a movie format. Raimi will be the series' executive producer.
This has me really excited; I'd been waiting for over a year since I first heard the rumors about this project. I never did finish the book series, and now this makes me want to go back and start over from the beginning again.
