New Music Post

Posted some new music on the Uploads World. This time some selections from Ayreon, the rock opera project by Dutch musician/composer Arjen Lucassen, one of the big names in the world of Progressive music. If you like anything to do with musicals, or rock operas more specifically, you'll enjoy Ayreon.

And don't forget about Movie Sign this Sunday.

So, the big thing going on around here right now is what kind of mess we'll find ourselves in when Tropical Storm - by then probably Hurricane - Fay rolls through early this next week. If it's going to start throwing bad weather out way in advance, we may have to reschedule our trip to Gainsville to see the pulmonologist and cardiologist, which we've already had changed on us (by them) several times this summer since it's hard for them to coordinate both appointments on the same day. Grandma's eye appointment on Wednesday will definitely have to be changed.

Tomorrow dad will put the shutters up on both houses, so we'll have a couple of hours work ahead of us. The storm will take the better part of a day or more to move on through, so I hope we don't lose power. If you suddenly don't see me around here or on any places like AIM and MSN, it means my hopes were dashed.

Right now I'm watching Samurai Rebellion on Ovation. It's a B&W 1967 film about the elder son of a vassal family being forced to marry the ex-concubine of the daimyo, who'd previously fathered one of his children. They eventually fall in love and have a daughter, but when the daimyo's primary heir dies, the ex-concubine is ordered to return to help raise her first child, the new heir. The elder son and his father take a stand for love over the honor of their family.

It's a pretty good film all around; not one of Kurasawa's, but it does star Toshiro Mifune.
