I has a shiny...

Went to Best Buy on Saturday and bought this little beauty:

SanDisk Sansa View 16GB player. Very sleek and beautiful, and a lot easier to operate than iPod: just plug it in, open it up, drag and drop files. It also sounds a hell of a lot better than my old iPod. I played some music to test it, and the levels already seemed perfect, no need to mess with it as far as I can tell. And with 16 GB, I was able to get my most played music onto it with room to spare. I'm so glad I finally have a new, functioning player; there are just some times it's nicer to be able to tote your music around than a book (I can't really read very well unless I have total silence around me, and that isn't easy unless you're at home).

So, last week was pretty average, except that my aunt from Texas was visiting while my parents were out of state to see my sister. I do love my aunt, we get along 99% of the time whenever she's here, but there are rare times when we'll clash because our views are so different. At one point I was over at Grandma's, and while they played cards I was reading one of my books by Richard Dawkins. That led into a small spat over religion that I couldn't ever hope to win against her in a million years, ending with her making the claim that I've "always been angry with God" since I was a little kid. o_O At that point I gave up the ghost and tried to return to my book; Grandma was no help, as she is also religious. Later when my aunt was on the phone with her husband, being in another room she closed the door at one point, and I eavesdropped and sure enough she was talking to him about that earlier incident. I wasn't too happy with that, but said nothing.

Earlier in the week, I had stayed over late and decided to catch Gundam 00 over there, and my aunt watched at least some of it with me. I explained things as best I could, and I guess she watched more for the sake of figuring out why I like anime at all. She thought it was a bit too grim, but then she's told me that she is not a fan of anything dark.

I've also spent a lot of the last week exploring in posting in the Richard Dawkins forum, which is why I wasn't around here for a couple of days and didn't leave any comment. It's an interesting place with some good discussions. They have rules in place to discourage people coming in and preaching, but that doesn't stop some from trying anyway, with often amusing results. =P
