This is the kind of news I've been waiting for. The BBC has announced that 21-year-old Scottish actress Karen Gillan has been cast to play the companion to Matt Smith's 11th Doctor. Karen has previously appeared in the series as a Soothsayer in the Season 4 episode The Fires of Pompeii.
As of yet though, there's nothing about the character's name. Hopefully that will come soon.
