New to Japan

~Sai~

I sighed as I took the last three boxes up to my room. It was always hard moving to a new town or an entire new country for that matter. I knew that my parents were Japanese but we lived in Italy since I was born. Then my grandmother suddenly decided that we should move back to Japan. I mean the house that we were moving into wasn’t bad but that wasn’t the point. The point was I just moved away from all my friends and my Japanese wasn’t all that great. Although my parents talked to each other and to me in Japanese most of the time; once in a while they would talk in Italian but I didn’t get my hopes up. I understood them just fine I was just slow at answering them is all.

My new bedroom was twice the size of my old one so there was more room for my stuff and there was a balcony off my room that looked out into the back yard.

“Sai come down here please.” My mother called.

I groaned and walked back down the stairs. My grandmother was standing in the door way. When I was younger and we used to come to Japan to visit her she would always tell me stories about how her and her friends would save the world from alien invaders. I was a bit of a skeptic though.

“Good morning Grandmother.” I greeted with a smile and hugged her.

“Good morning Sai, how would you like to get out of the house for the day?” She whispered the last part in my ear.

“That would make you the coolest grandmother in the entire world.” I told her.

She handed me a ticket and I slipped it into my pocket. “There’s an endangered species exhibit today and I know how you like animals so I figured it would be a good idea for you to go.” She explained.

“But what do I tell mom and dad?” I questioned.

“Don’t worry you just go ahead I’ll cover for you.” She winked and I ran out the door.

Even though I’m now going to be living in Japan I have been taken to the place that was on the ticket multiple times so I knew exactly where I was going. It wasn’t that far away from where we were living either so that made it all the easier to get to the exhibit.

“Ticket.” The man at the door asked and I handed him the ticket and then walked in.

I had this strange buzzing sound in my head when I walked through the gates. Pushing it aside I walked through the exhibit with ease. There were so many different species that were endangered. I stopped as I saw the bald Eagle was one of the endangered species. I stared at the picture of the flying Bald Eagle for another minute and then walked on.

After looking around the exhibit for another 10 minutes I started getting hungry. I realized that I really hadn’t eaten anything since the night before and it was already noon. My mother gave me some Yen and said she would give me the rest of my allowance when we got the rest of our money switched over. I walked out to the gardens and saw a café off in the distance.

“What is a café doing all the way out here?” I muttered to myself.

I hope that’s alright. If anyone wants to bump into him you can. And if you want to you can say he has an accent when he talks because when you move to somewhere new everyone thinks you have an accent. XD Well ttfn then. His grandmother is Mint Aizawa.
