“Urgh,” I groaned as I slowly sat up, placing a hand on my forehead. “My head’s killing me.”
“Minor side effect,” I jumped at the voice, and quickly turned around to see the boy who had bumped into me earlier. “But there doesn’t seem to be anything else wrong with you. The plan must have gone smoothly, even though it was executed sooner then planned,” he commented and examined me as though I was some kind of science project.
I watched him for a few more seconds before speaking up, “What do you mean?” I looked myself over to make sure that nothing weird had happened to me. Nothing seemed to have changed, so I just looked at him confused. “Mind giving me an explanation?”
There was a beep noise, and I looked around before realising it had come from the computer I had slipped on earlier. “Hmm... it seems there were four more matches,” the boy commented, reading the box that had popped up on the screen. “And they’re all close...”
“Excuse me!” I called out, mad that he was ignoring me. “But could you PLEASE tell me what’s going on?”
He sighed, and then looked back at me with a serious expression. “You are now a Mew Mew. A warrior infused with the D.N.A of an endangered animal, charged with the duty of protecting the earth from alien’s that would wish it harm. I’m sure if you examine your body thoroughly, you’ll find a mark that’s proof,” he explained, shrugging.
“A... mark?” I looked over my arms and legs, not finding anything. I made sure his attention was back on the computer screen, before pulling up my dress. There, just above my bellybutton, was a small heart shaped mark. “Wait... Mew Mew?!” my eyes widened as I realised where I had heard that name before. “Grandma’s stories!”
“Shh!” he put a finger to his lips, before going back to typing. “I’m trying to locate the others, and I need to concentrate. So if you wouldn’t mind...”
I ‘hmphed’ and crossed my arms. “Whatever.”
