The Scratches on the Wall

~Finnigan~

I awoke to a white room. I hadn't even been aware that I had been knocked out. The room barely held anything, a small bed in the corner, and a door leading to a small bathroom. The only thing of interest in this room was the wall. There were tick marks on it, as if someone was counting the days. Was someone here before me?

I ran my fingers over the small indentations in the wall, trying to imagine a person scratching a new line for a new day. I stared around the room again. There were no doors anywhere. It was just a room. I walked over and sat on the bed. It was okay, but not the most comfortable thing in the world.

I'm not sure how long I had been sitting, when there was a sliding sound and I looked down to see a plate of food and a small note. I slid off the bed onto the ground and picked up the note, and taking a bite of the food they had left me.

Hello, FINNIGAN,
We would like to welcome you to our special testing facility! You will be put through many obstacles designed to test the limits of your powers. We will first have to run a physical examination to ensure you are fit and healthy for the dangerous and possibly deadly tasks! We shall allow you to send one letter to a loved one before we cut off all ties from the outside world, which you shall presumably never see again! Please inform them of the horrible grueling death they will receive if they attempt to enter our facility! A pencil and paper shall be provided! We hope to see you ready for training!

Well, that sounded chipper. They were testing my powers with obstacles...Dangerous ones, apparently. I looked up to see the wall of scratch marks. Someone was here before. So...They must have died. I looked down and realized I was wearing a green jumpsuit instead of my normal clothes... How did I not notice this?! It was uncomfortable, so I zipped it down halfway and tied the sleeves around my waist like a sweatshirt. I was wearing a white wife beater under the jumpsuit. I felt slightly better.

I looked down at my now empty plate to see the pencil and paper, which I was certain had not been there a second ago. I picked it up and started to write.

Vlad,
Don't come find me. I'll be fine. If you do want to find me, do it after everyone has practiced well enough to control their powers perfectly. Maybe in a month or two. I'm not sure. All ties for the outside world are being cut off to me. I'm sorry. I might die. But just. Don't. Come. Here.

I set down the pencil and paper and laid down on the ground. There was nothing I could do.

So I started to do some sit ups, all the while looking at the tick marks on the wall.

Yeah, so I was watching a live action fan video of the video game Portal. And had been thinking on how they were going to test Finni. So I came up with this. It's similar I guess, because that's where I got the ideas. So hurray!
