School felt strange, and I wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was because it was my first day. But I didn’t really care about school. I figured I would be leaving this town soon anyway after I got a handle on my powers. I thought I would see Max in school, apparently he was in one of my classes, but he wasn’t there. I wondered if anything was wrong. I had a study hall the period after the class I was supposed to have with Max, so I just signed out and walked around since none of the teachers had assigned me anything to do. I walked past the nurses and stopped and backed up and saw Dante there. “You ok?” I asked.
“Yeah, just a nose bleed from, it being so dry.” He obviously lied.
“So your nose bleeds are a side effect.” I said leaning against the door frame.
“Yeah.” He said.
‘Have you seen Max today?’ I asked in my head.
‘No actually, you don’t think something’s wrong do you?’
‘I was about to ask you the same thing.’ I thought back. ‘Something’s not right. I can feel it.’
“Well, I should be getting back to class, I’ll see you in a bit…” He said and walked past me.
‘Honestly I’m worried. If something happened to Max…’
‘We don’t know anything yet, don’t jump to conclusions.’ He replied. I felt my face flush.
‘He’s just, I don’t know…I can’t take my eyes off him when I’m around him. And he doesn’t seem like the type to skip school, something’s happened I just know it!’ I said in my head.

I skipped to school and was actually excited for class. I didn’t see anyone I knew at this school, mom and dad made me transfer to this school because they said that it would look better when I started applying for college. I had my guard up, trying to concentrate on not reading everyone’s feelings. I got through a few classes, but then something happened in the hallway. A boy and girl were standing by a locker, and I could tell they were both tense and irritated. “What do we do now?” The boy said with a glare, he was mad.
“I don’t know what you want me to say! I swear I didn’t do anything with that guy!” She shot back. Must be they were dating.
“You’re a liar!” He shouted. My head started pounding.
“I am not!” She cried. I stopped and got dizzy. I couldn’t keep things out anymore. Before I could do anything, I passed out in the hall, not bothering to catch myself.
