I got a text from Dante, and he wanted everyone to skip school today so we could go train. I smiled and was excited for the opportunity to practice. I waited until Mom left, now all I had to do was convince Dad that I was sick. I walked down and put on a pathetic looking face. “What wrong baby girl?” he asked as he put his white lab coat thing on.
“I don’t feel good.” I said.
“Well, stay home ok? It’ll be ok, I’ll make sure the school knows you’re sick.” He smiled and hugged me quickly. “I need to go to work.” I smiled back at him.
“Can I come to work with you sometime?” I asked.
“No sweetie, I’m sorry but no, you can’t. It is a dangerous place and the things that I do have to be kept a secret.” He winked. I grinned.
“It’s ok!”
“Good, I love you, see you later.” He waved and walked out the door. I instantly ran upstairs and threw some clothes on. I heard someone knock on the door, and I peeked down the stairs and saw Alf through the window. I bounded down the stairs, tripping in the process, and tumbled down the stairs. Alf immediately opened the door and rushed over to me.
“Stella!” He said as he bent down.
“I’m ok! I guess I was a little too happy to see you!” I laughed.
“You scared me! Don’t do that again, please.” He breathed a sigh of relief. I hugged him.
“Ok, I’ll try not to.” I laughed a little. He hugged me back.
“Did you get the text from Dante?” He asked.
“Uhhuh.” I muttered. “I’m going because I can’t wait to get some control and to help Max and Finn.” I said.
“Do you really think you should go?” He asked. I let him go a little and looked at him.
“Why wouldn’t I?” I questioned.
“It’s going to be dangerous.” He said.
“So?” I blinked.
