-Max-
“Where am I?” I asked looking around in the darkness, “Hello…is anyone there?” I yelled and my echo just came back to me. I walked in the darkness not knowing where to go.
Slowly the black shifted to a house, grass and a sky. “This…looks like my house.” I muttered looking around then I stopped and realized that it was my house.
“Max.” I heard and looked over to see my parents standing in the driveway.
“Mom…dad…” I whispered.
“Mommy, daddy, this place is awesome.” I heard a little kid say. It was me, when I was 13. I remember, that’s when we moved into this town. I was just starting middle school then. My parents’ homeschooled me then decided to get a place out in the country so I could go to school and meet people. “Can we stay here?” The thirteen year old me begged.
“Of course son.” My dad laughed and messed up the blonde hair that I use to have. Back then it was short and spiky kind of like Naruto’s. I’ve always been into anime ever since I was little. I felt a smile slowly spread across my face as I watched my memory play out in front of me.
Suddenly the scene shifted to in the house. “Why can’t you to take a week off or something so we can spend time together like a family?” I heard my own voice say.
I walked into the living room. The time shifted to when I was fifteen. My hair was longer then and that day I had it pulled back into a small ponytail.
“Do you expect us to just quite our jobs, then lose this house?” My mother snapped
“No, I just want to spend time as a family, is that so much to ask?” I could hear my voice was choking up.
“We will.” My mom said.
“WHEN mom, when? I never get to see you two anymore, you’re always away making movies and…”I was cut off by my father hitting me across the face.
“Samuel!” My mother shouted at my father.
“Do whatever you want, I don’t care any more.” I muttered looking down at the ground.
“Max, you know how a hate the mumbling.” Mom stated.
“I mean nothing to you two. I’m just a waist of space.” I said.
‘Why did I think like that?’ I thought.
“No you’re not Max.” Dad said.
“Yes I am if I can’t get you two to even spend time with me.” I yelled and ran out of the room.
I remember after that fight I went into pretty much a depression. I didn’t talk to any of my so called friends, which I’m sure didn’t care for me at all, all they cared about was my parents money.
It shifted to another day. It was a year later, I knew it was, I remembered what day it was too. The phone rang and the younger me walked down the stairs and picked up the phone.
“Hello.” I answered.
“Happy 16th birthday Maxxy.” I heard my moms’ voice giggle on the other end of the line.
It was pouring out here and mom and dad were in California shooting yet another movie.
“Thanks mom.” I said trying to sound happy.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t be home for your birthday sweetie.” She apologized.
“Don’t worry about it, it was bound to happen right?” I laughed a little even though I knew I wanted to cry.
“I’m glad you understand sweetie. Oh well I have to go, I’ll talk to you later, bye sweetie.” My mom yelled then the phone clicked before the younger me could say anything.
“You’re never home…” my younger self muttered. “Why can’t we just be a family?” I said out loud. “I just want you to come home, I want you to pay attention to me for once…” I knew what was coming.
Suddenly the younger me fell to his knees and started screaming. Some sixteenth birthday present, I got my wings that day. The time shifted again and the screaming faded.
“Hey mom, dad.” This was the first time that they saw me with blue hair.
“What happened to your hair Max?” My mom said shocked.
“I just felt like a change that’s all.” I lied to them but they believed me anyways.
They stayed for a few months this time and it was nice to see them when I got home. I still hadn’t told them about my wings but I didn’t want to freak them out and then send me away or use me as some attraction. There was a new girl in my class, she was really shy and didn’t want to talk much…it was Elizabeth, when we were younger. Of course the expression that I wore on my face when I was in school didn’t really help me make any new friends. I went home that day to talk to my mom and ask her what I should do to try to talk to Elizabeth and try to be friends with her but when I got home they were gone and all they left for me was a note on the table.
‘I want to wake up now.’ I thought to myself looking up at the ceiling.
The scenes kept playing around me and all I could do was watch as my life played out in front of me.
