Trigun Episode 3 Guide: Peace Maker

The episode begins in a bar. Two wealthy men are lavishing themselves with drinks until a drunkard stumbles in. The drunkard asks the two to buy him a drink but the two kick him out of the bar, beat him up, and threaten to shoot him in the face. They leave the drunkard sprawled on the floor. The drunkard laughs when they leave, calling them "idiots."

In Warren City, Milly and Meryl are sitting down, eating and discussing how they should find Vash. All of a sudden, Vash walks by and Milly quickly greets him. Vash raises a hand and wishes the two women well. Meryl grows irritated, reminding Milly that that clumsy oaf could not possibly be Vash.

Vash is walking along when he bumps into the drunkard we met in the beginning of the episode. The drunkard persuades Vash to buy him a drink and, at the bar, Vash ends up asking the bartender (a rather cold woman) whether she knows a "Frank Marlon." The woman responds to the positive, Frank is a local hero that is supposedly a great gun repairman. We find out that Frank Marlon is actually the drunkard sitting across from Vash.

Meanwhile, Meryl and Milly are talking to the town's mayor. They are stunned to hear that Warren City doesn't have a sheriff.

We cut to the top of a cliff. A group of bandits are relaxing and watching over the town. They wish to attack an armored car that is scheduled to enter soon. The bandits' leader, a man who laughs a lot, hopes that the rumor of Vash's arrival into the town is true: he wants to use Vash in his scheme.

Vash and Frank stumble outside the bar. They're both really drunk. Milly and Meryl talk to them for a bit (they're patrolling). Vash then takes leave for Frank's house. Inside, both of them drink more alcohol and we learn that Frank Marlon quit making and handling guns long ago.

Furthermore, we find out that Frank Marlon lost himself when his wife and child were killed when some bandits shot them during a bank robbery. Adding to the pain was that the guns the bandits used were made and hand-delivered to the bandits by Mr. Marlon.

The next day, the Bandits rob the armored car, pretending their leader is Vash (so the citizens of the town cooperate).

The real Vash arrives at the scene and takes out one of the bandits. He prepares to face off with the leader when the bartender comes on the scene with a pistol. Following the bartender's lead, all the townspeople take out their own guns and surround the bandits.

All is not lost though for the outlaws. The leader, though sweating profusely, presses a switch in his gun that reveals it to have the firepower to kill everyone. Before he can do anything though, Frank Marlon steps to his back and points a "gun" to the back of the leader's head. The leader and his men drop everything and run away. Frank laughs, revealing that he never had a gun, he just formed his hand into the shape of one. Vash laughs too, showing that he was doing the same (though under his jacket).

At night, amidst the celebrations, Vash is given a fully repaired gun by Mr. Marlon. Vash is thankful and leaves town. Meryl and Milly also leave town, glad that there was zero damage done to it. Also, Meryl seems to, very slowly, become more and more interested in the man she doesn't think is Vash.
