Filled to the brim

It was official.

I needed yet another bookcase.

I couldn't see how. I had only bought... maybe five books... in the last week. Before that I only bought...

Okay, yeah. I need another one.

Coming back from my favorite bookstore in the Seireitei, I slipped my shoes off and set my bag on the dining table and took out two of the six that I had bought on my "mini shopping trip."

I walked over to the bookcase underneath the wooden mantle. It was about eight to ten feet long and four feet tall, laying on its side. All three shelves were already packed, yet I was determined to fit six more into it, no matter how much I had to push, shove, shift and slide them.

I wedged my fingers between several books, looking for any amount of space amongst the myriad of books already on the shelf. Eventually, I was able to wiggle my fingers between two mystery books. I shoved them apart with all my strength. Careful not to loose the precious half inch gap, I picked up one of the two books and stuck one corner of it into the small space.

That was as far as it got.

"Ugh, no. Come on! You can fit at least one more!" I complained as I shoved on the spine of the book.

I pushed and shoved the book into the tiny space until--

WHAM!

The book gave up against the amount of force I was exerting on it and slid into the space, knocking against the back of the case. The entire case rocked back and hit the wall, causing the picture frames on top of the mantle to shake and fall.

"No! Stop!" I yelled at nothing, scrambling to catch the precious silver titanium frames.

I caught five of the six. The sixth one fell hard against the floor, cracking the glass.

Panicked, I hurriedly, yet carefully, set the five back on the mantle then turned my attention to the broken frame. I flipped it over. Low and behold, it was the one of my mother and Ryushiro.

"Dammit," I cursed myself. "I'm sorry guys. I should have been more careful."

Careful of the broken glass, I picked out the picture and slipped it gingerly into my kimono. Sighing at myself, I went to get a broom and dust pan to clean up the glass.

"Time to buy another bookcase," I growled at myself. "And a picture frame. Way to go Tsukiro..."

My goal is to make this world at least 90% in first person.
