He knew he promised. He promised Tsukiro he would get Kotaishi for him after he dropped him off at his room at the Thirteenth.
But as Kairo Namori placed his hand on the doors to Tsukiro's room in the Tenth Squad dorm area, his hands shook.
This is where Tsukiro was stabbed by his captain.
He swallowed hard and slowly pried the doors open.
It wasn't as bad as he expected. Someone had cleaned up the broken glass and scrubbed the tatami mats. However, the blood had done its job. There was a huge, dark red pool stain on the floor in front of the mantle where Tsukiro had been bleeding out on the floor.
"Gods..." he whispered, staring at it. He couldn't help but be slightly angry at Hitsugaya as he looked over the dark stain.
He shook his head of negative thoughts and looked around for Tsukiro's zanpakuto. He walked through the medium sized room, recognizing the cream and brown colored walls with forest and mountain landscapes drawn onto some of them. He always thought Tsukiro's room--wherever he stayed--was so neat and tidy. It was always warm and welcoming, despite his sometimes cold and dismissing demeanor. Tsukiro had been through hell in previous years but never showed his negative feelings. He always tried to stay positive and at least somewhat outgoing in the presence of others. He didn't want to drag anyone down with his slowly sinking ship.
A cold draft his Kairo from the side, and he looked over to see the violet-blue hilted, dull sapphire blade lying on the floor in front of the couch in the back. He walked over and cautiously picked up the blade. The silver guard glinted in the moonlight.
"You couldn't have picked a more pleasant way to get my attention. That was cold!" he said to the blade.
The zanpakuto flared its spiritual energy in response, almost sounding like a low growl.
"Alright. I'm going. Sheesh. You're just as impatient as your master," Kairo rolled his eyes. "Crazy cat."
He could have sworn the zanpakuto tried to bite him as he walked out of the room, avoiding the blood stain. He looked back before closing the door behind him, wondering if Tsukiro would ever feel safe there again.
