I've been a fan of The Used ever since their first album back in 2002. I don't remember if I explained how I came upon them, but the very first song I heard from them was Noise And Kisses on a custom map on Starcraft. The creator didn't credit the song to anyone, so I had to figure out who created the song. When I found out I fell in love with the album it was from.
Their self titled album has a VERY special place in my heart. A lot of fans prefer In Love And Death and Lies For The Liars especially LFTL since that's the album the really kicked them off with publicity, but the unique sound of the rhythm, the complex beats from the percussion, and the meaningful lyrics and adrenaline inducing screams from the first album captivated me and still do.
Over the years The Used has fascinated me to no end. Even when there were sounds and songs that I wasn't feeling (Imaginary Enemy) I eventually got over it and fell in love with it. It's not about how alternate the sound has become from it's original state; it's how it displays it's core message and how you perceive it. Same goes with this new single they put out a few days ago. It may sound different from what it used to be, but if it currents the same output through its message, then it's still the same as it was.
Sorry for the rant, but that was a lesson I had to teach myself back in 2014 in order to keep loving the band that helped and taught me a lot ever since I first heard them. I'm glad got to finally see them last year, and I hope to see them again, soon.
Enjoy the band that helps paint my reality.
It called me, I should've known
As the fever sweat through the dream
Told mamma that I couldn't go
So I could stay home just to watch him dancing
And you could not tell me then
Like you could never ever tell me now
That this is not who I am
Plans were made while my back was turned
Said baby, that is no way to live
Showed me that carrot on a string but just a little too late
The bite from the taste and the smell of the sick somehow reminds me to be myself
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Wanna be startin' somethin' taught me to sing
Or maybe kiss kiss Molly's lips
On a plain he will always live
And in a round he will always be dancing
Imagine where I'd be now
On these four legs I stand proud
It's the only way I know how to give
Plans were made while my back was turned
Said baby, that is no way to live
Showed me that carrot on a string but just a little too late
The bite from the taste and the smell of the sick somehow reminds me to be myself
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Plans were made while my back was turned
Said baby, that is no way to live
Showed me that carrot on a string but just a little too late
The bite from the taste and the smell of the sick somehow reminds me to be myself
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
