Happy chinese new year!!! 2010 is the year of the tiger RAWR
This is my third year of Chinese and my LaoShi (teacher) set up a new year celebration. my class had to sing songs and make almost all the decorations. we were in charge of the activities. it was lots of fun! and i was pleased when i could understand some of what wo de laoshi was saying to some of the other chinese people there. after performing songs we did the dragon dance. which is the classic dragon costume running around. only it was mainly for the little kids and they really enjoyed it.
it was a potluck so i made cupcakes! they were pink (i wanted them to be red since thats the color of the the holiday but i couldn't get red) with 恭 喜 ("congratulations") written on them. I was really pleased with myself for being able to write a readable phrase on cupcakes. they were all gone by the time the ceremonies were over...
