*two posts in one day - wowz*
Alright. Per Allamorph's suggestion (thankee, btw), I'm now using Sibelius for my music-composing needs and I am loving it. I frustrate rather easily, so my first night of use involved lots of hair-pulling, screen-scratching, and keyboard-bashing, but now that I have a better feel for it, I am quite contented. There are still a few features I can't wrap my head around (like how to include a ritard without it jacking with the tempo throughout the rest of the piece - I know it's possible) but I was already able to complete and print off two character themes, "Soukushi" and "Fukashigi". Needless to say, this brings me great satisfaction.
A word to the wise: When trying out a new and exciting program, don't start the installation at 2am and then be surprised when you're still squinting at the screen three hours later, trying to figure out how to insert a section of 6/8 in the middle of 4/4, even though you knew when you started you'd be getting up at 7. Poor planning.
