Chapter 1:
“Why are we here? I just don’t get it, we should be out of this place by now but it seems like THEY don’t want us to go! I DON’T GET IT!!!!” A boy with dark red hair screamed. His name is Josh. That is all anyone ever known about him besides the fact he was supposed to be dead. There was one boy who’s been with him for as long as he can remember (which isn't all THAT long), his name is Cameron.
“Calm DOWN! I CAN’T TAKE THIS ANYMORE THAN YOU!” Cameron let out a huge sigh. Maybe we can sneak out through the upper tunnels.” Josh just looked at him. “The one for the lighting.”
“OHHHHHH! THAT one. How do you know where to go?”
“Easy I've been there before. You know when I suddenly appeared in class before my name was called.”
“And the time the girls claimed you were in their rooms at night.” Josh poked him.
“Good times.” He laughed. “Come on.” He pointed to his bed. Josh walked over to the bed and looked underneath of it.
“There’s no door here.”
“Hehehe you really are stupid sometimes. Look up.”
“Waaa!!!! How did I never see THAT?!” Above the bed was a large tile that had a huge chunk broken off. Cameron pushed on it. He pulled out a ladder and was about to go up when he fell back onto his bed. Lying down, he pulled out a backpack from under his bed. “What’s that?” Josh asked.
“Supplies.” He was answered and with that they entered the tunnels.
“It’s dark. And this is supposed to be for lights?” Josh questioned a little too loudly. Cameron tried to stop him from speaking anymore but it was too late, the lights flickered on around them.
“You hear that?” someone asked.
“No go check outside.” The other one moaned.
“Don’t say anything anymore. You can’t wake anyone up. Listen stupid the lights are off. People are sleeping. Come one.” Cameron hissed under his breath. They kept on walking. Every time they turned a corner Josh looked behind him. A creepy feeling crept down his back.
“Crap crap crap crap crap." There was a long pause followed by an AWWWW MAN and a Whoops. "Huh?” a voice echoed through the tunnels quiet enough that only they could hear but loud enough that whoever said it was close. As they continued to walk they found a window. Cameron pushed the window open and hopped out. Josh looked out of the window into the night sky. The moon glowed brightly as the stars danced. The fall leaves blew past him. He brushed his hair from his eyes. He didn't see the clouds rolling in over the trees but what he did see was the ground was 20 feet underneath him.
“Holy…” He was startled. “If I die you’re liable!” He jumped.
“If you die, you’ll die outside of the school.” Cameron laughed as Josh landed directly on his feet.
“I never knew I had cat-like reflexes.”
“Yeah your part kitty now come I got some cat nip for you and a ball of yarn.”
“Hisss.” A shadow passed by the window and closed it. The window disappeared but the shadow stayed. “Huh?” Josh rubbed his eyes and looked up at where the window was. The shadow had jumped down from its place and hid in his shadow.
“What are you doing come on.” Cameron dragged him into the Forest of Sound.
