Randomly drew some dialogue a couple days ago between Lafayette and a booking agent he works with when he's an adult. I know I like never talk extensively about Lafayette and Dmitri when they're older, so here's some sort of context for this comic:
When Lafayette's older, performing is his main source of income so he works with a booking agent to help him find theater/singing gigs. In terms of famousness (?) Lafayette's not famous but he's still moderately successful and I think he has like a sizable instagram following or something. :u (??? why) However, for the past couple months Lafayette's been avoiding his agent because performing is getting too exhausting for Lafayette to do regularly--he doesn't find getting on stage and performing as gratifying as he used to because he's becoming more and more aware that his narcissistic attitude turns a lot of people away. (Idk I think he has a hard time wrapping his head around the concept that people find his personality overbearing, and the more people he works with the more he's forced to acknowledge this, so... it starts wearing him down or something.)
Instead of working, Laf's meets up with Dmitri for the first time in several years. Ultimately he ends up freeloading at Dmitri's place w/ Dmitri and Dmitri's adopted kid without telling his agent (and also without telling Dmitri that his agent's looking for him or that he even has an agent). Eventually Laf's agent finds him and they decide to have a talk about what's going on and stuff. (???? TYPING IT OUT MAKES ME SEE THAT THIS MAKES NO SENSE...)
Anyway, yeah. This is Laf and his agent talking for the first time in a while since Laf ran away (?) to stay at Dmitri's place. They're at a bar or restaurant or something.
It's kinda hard to tell, but in the last panel Laf's agent is handing him a cigarette.
BUT YEP.... Just a little thing. I rarely have dialogue of Lafayette talking to people other than Dmitri, so this was kind of fun for me. I think he's a little less abrupt (?) when he's talking to Dmitri.
OBVIOUSLY... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING W/ LAFAYETTE'S AGENT YET.... I'm still deciding, but I'm thinking he's kind of a cynical and sarcastic guy, but he's always laughing or acting like he's in a good mood for some reason. And he's also unabashedly two-faced. So like... something similar to if you combined Stefan and my FE character Jamir. (??? Sorry if this makes no sense, I'm obviously still trying to work things out. Idk how important of a character he'll end up being.)
ANYWAY... I ALSO DECIDED LAFAYETTE SMOKES WHEN HE’S OLDER... idk it’s something I’ve been super on the fence about because I’m a wimp and I hate even talking about drugs. I really didn’t want to have Lafayette smoke in the canon timeline, but if I was being totally honest with myself Lafayette would probably get involved in harder stuff than just cigarettes if I consider his personality, so... idk I decided to compromise between the two options and now Laf smokes I guess. This doesn’t start until after he and Dmitri go sort-of separate ways after college. I don’t think he smokes often because of Dmitri and Dmitri’s kid, but obviously he lapses easily and doesn’t really care that much about quitting.
I've been thinking a lot about this older Laf/older Dmitri timeline a lot, but it's kind of haphazard because Dmitri's kid has no design/personality yet. I also just don't know what kind of direction this plot's supposed to go. IDK. STORIES ARE CONFUSING....
