First, I has a cool. (^_^)
Second, I finally figured out how the danged honorific works, so now my species name is functional again. The honorific is a " V' " in front of the person's name, and is only given to the leader of the entire people.
Traditionally this person is a Tiger (and not a Lion, interestingly enough); Onothar, one of the first V'nothrians, was a Tiger and led the small group, and this tradition of leadership persisted up until just after the Great Extermination (which I haven't heard yet what the V'nothrians call it), when the four clans went into hiding and separated.
I'm not quite sure why the allamorphs picked that particular sound, but I'm sure I'll find out if and when I explore Onothar's period. At any rate, as you can see the prefix is simply stuck on the beginning of the name, and if the name starts with a vowel then the vowel is replaced. So Onothar becomes V'nothar (pronounced vuh-no-thar), Naeir (nah-eer) (who is a tiger and next in line for ascent, I discovered today) becomes V'naeir (pronounced vuh-när) and Amon (ah-mone, kinda like Timon, I guess), my main character later, becomes V'mon (vah-mone).
Also discovered what happened to the V'nothrians after the Great Extermination—at least immediately. Lots of blame-throwing on all four sides (the names of which will be revealed eventually, no hurry), the Falcons wanted the Cats to relinquish leadership rights to them, no one else agreed, the Falcons left, the remaining three formed a tenuous council-ish thing at the Wolves suggestion (although the 'chairman', essentially, got to keep using the honorific), and they all disappeared as far as they could get.
Sad story that lead to the GE, really. Something like the big witch-hunts in our own history. Regular humans who forgot why the allamorphs were ever their friends saw their "Demon" form (as the humans call it) one too many times, foul tales spread, cue torches and pitchforks and swords and village-razing and all sorts of nasty. Allamorphs had the upper hand in sheer power if they used it, but more often then not they did not, 'cause using the "Demon" form only made their hunters' convictions that much stronger.
So come my timeline and not only are V'nothrians almost the stuff of legend, but even if you are one, the Falcons are still danged hard to find.
Edit: Also, I think while I'm working on this section of the 'verse, I'll alter the intro to match the era. Sci-fi can come later.
