Medium project #18
"Report card"
In the solitude
of your concentration
you hunker down
over the schoolwork
that you fight
as I fought it.
Fragments of my childhood
brush my skin
as time flicks through
the book of you.
Forgotten paragraphs
of my own story
catch my eye.
Your problems
were once
and still are mine.
How I wish a better me
for you.
Not just now
but in the moment
when unthinking form
was passed to you.
But you make your own mistakes
and do much
that I should have done.
If only I had your shape
and time.
In those moments
when I catch you
skipping out of my shadow
my love for you
is beyond my understanding.
This is like the book the report card, because when she gets her report card she is necer happy about it. And she always knows exactly why her grades are so low.
