Starting

While in heaven, I often found myself staring down at Earth and wondering what living a life on Earth was like. Of course, I had been human once. But, that had been centuries ago. Times had changed, memories faded, the people gone. Earth was no longer how I had known it.

So, when it had come time to sign up for recruitment, I had gladly signed up. I had been given a place to stay, a job to work. We were told to blend in and search out the demons. Take them out.

Waking up on Earth, I found myself in an apartment complex, laying in the bed of my room. Sitting up, I found that I was in a nicely spaced room. The door was closed, so I got out of bed and opened the door to view the rest of the place.

I caught sight of myself in a mirror on the wall. The majestic wings on my back were gone. The face staring back at me was not what I had in heaven. But then, if I had been in my true form, I wouldn't be blending in very well.

I decided I wanted to see more of the world outside. I glanced at my attire. A Tshirt and baggy pants. It would do well enough. Putting on the sandals at the front door, I opened the door and headed out. I went down the steps and stepped outside.

The sun's rays on my skin was awesome, something we missed out on in Heaven. The buildings surrounding me were taller than my apartment complex. I had never seen anything so tall before. And the people! They were everywhere, running about like ants in a panic. Always in such a hurry.

I was one of them now. Well, except for my powers. But, I needed to be them, to think like them, to act like them if I was to blend in.

"Turn your head to the left a bit," Marty ordered from behind the camera. "Tilt your head down slightly." He snapped a few pictures. "Oh, that's good. Now, just do your thing, Kas."

I flipped my hair over my shoulder, rolling my head back, and striking different poses for Marty. He was really my favorite man to work with. He really knew how to capture my most beautiful side. I was nicknamed Dark Beauty from some of his greatest works.

"Is Cider coming in for the rest of the shoot?" I asked as Marty motioned for me to desist. I walked over to the refreshments table and grabbed a bottle of water, savoring the cooling taste.

My manager, Zephyr replied, "He'll be here shortly. You got done with your shoot a bit earlier than scheduled."

I nodded and took a seat in one of the lounge chairs. As I was sitting there, I felt a jolt go through my body so quickly, I had to question whether or not I had really felt it. More recruitments had been sent to Earth, I mused. After being on Earth for so long, I recognized the feeling.

This war was silly, and it wasn't one I was particularly keen on participating in. We were told to take out any angels we could see. But, it wasn't easy to distinguish who was human, angel, or demon. It was like the Vietnamese War the humans had so foolishly fought.

I liked a little violence, sure. But, I valued my life more. I'd be able to hold my own if anyone attacked me first, but I was worried about being wrong and putting years of work in danger. I loved modelling, and I wasn't about to just throw it away on a limb.

"About time you got here," I greeted Cider as he entered the studio.

Hope it's okay!
If someone could run into Kale, that'd be great!
