What's Movie Sign?
Every week, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. We use episodes available on Google Video so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
It's a comedy show about a man and his robots, stranded in space and forced to watch some of the worst movies ever made as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, talk back to the films and riff on them. You can read up on the show over at the SoL.
Next Episode
It's high-flying... um, fun with The Skydivers. You see there's this little rinky-dink airfield out in the middle of nowhere where a couple named Beth and Harry run a skydiving business. Harry rebuffs the advances of his ex-gf Suzy, she seeks revenge, a lot of people jump out of planes, there's a big party with some crazy characters dancing around, and coffee seems to be a very important plot point... In the words of Frank, "It's like Manos without the lucid plot." It's also poorly made, as Crow remarks, "Someone with attention deficit disorder edited this film."
Preceding the movie is another instructional gem from the 1950s, espousing the virtues of an industrial arts education. Makes you wish you hadn't dropped shop class, huh?

- Crow's shop class project goes awry and leaves him beside himself.

About the Anime Club
The Anime Club is a weekly room in theOtaku's community chat where we meet to have fun laughing, crying, heckling, and spazzing together while watching a few episodes of anime. Rather than watching mainstream shows, however, we pick out good, yet lesser-known anime as an opportunity for people to enjoy new shows. Streaming links are usually provided for those without a copy of the anime.
Current Anime
Ichigo Mashimaro (aka Strawberry Marshmallow) is a 12 episode comedy/slice of life about sixth-grader Itou Chika (Chiba Saeko), her three friends Matsuoka Miu (Orikasa Fumiko), Sakuragi Matsuri (Kawasumi Ayako) and Ana Coppola (Noto Mamiko), and her big sister Itou Nobue (Nabatame Hitomi). It follows the day-to-day lives of the girls as they play, fight, argue, and work together, often with cute and hilarious results. There's no real story to speak of but the girls' overflowing adorableness will keep you smiling and the show's mix of conversational and slapstick humor will keep you laughing the whole way through.

Kanon is a 24 episode comedy/drama about Aizawa Yuuichi (Sugita Tomokazu), a boy in high school who, due to family circumstances, goes to live with his aunt, Minase Akiko, and cousin, Minase Nayuki (Kouda Mariko). It's been seven years since he visited and his memories of the city have since faded, but upon meeting Tsukimiya Ayu (Horie Yui) and other girls from his past, they slowly begin to return. The lighthearted comedy while Yuuichi teases the girls will make you laugh and the heartbreaking drama of traumatic events from both past and present will make you cry as the story unfolds.
