What is the Watercooler?

It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.

All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.

MST3K Short - Design for Dreaming

From our most recent episode in Movie Sign, we present the short film Design for Dreaming. This little musical ditty was produced by General Motors back in the '50s. Warning: Viewing this could lead to spontaneous singing.

Movie Sign #28 - Mitchell

February is winding down (but did it ever really wind up?) and we could all use some time to sit back and relax. Say bah to the Oscars and instead watch some movies that are just as shunned from the show as you or I. We welcome you.

What is Movie Sign?
Every week, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. We use episodes available on Google Video so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
It's a comedy show about a man and his robots, stranded in space and forced to watch some of the worst movies ever made as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, talk back to the films and riff on them. You can read up on the show over at the SoL.

Next Episode
Do you like loner cops but wish they were generally fatter, sloppier and drunker? Well, you are in luck with Mitchell! Joe Don Baker stars as the titular cop who does not follow the rules. Mitchell must race against time - and somehow find his way among the many beer cans on the floor of his home - to catch a wealthy man with mob ties who plans to secure a shipment of heroin for himself. Will Mitchell bring down this crooked villain, and more importantly, will he be able to pick up a six-pack on the way home?

Host Segment Highlights
The Mads are being audited, so they've hired a temp by the name of Mike...
Ever wonder why there were two different hosts for the show? Furthermore, when and how did the change happen? Come to the show and find out! Mike goes about his job in Deep 13, but Dr. F and Frank don't like him much, so they decide to off him. Unbeknowst to them, Gypsy overhears this conversation and thinks they mean Joel! It'll take all the resources the purple bot's got in order to make this escape plan work...
It's the passing of the torch in MST3K, and next week's Movie Sign will provide a nice finish to this event.

About the Anime Club
The Anime Club is a weekly room in theOtaku's community chat where we meet to have fun laughing, crying, heckling, and spazzing together while watching a few episodes of anime. Rather than watching mainstream shows, however, we pick out good, yet lesser-known anime as an opportunity for people to enjoy new shows. Streaming links are usually provided for those without a copy of the anime.

Current Anime
Lovely Complex is a 24 episode romantic comedy that follows the unlikely relationship of Koizumi Risa (voiced by Okamura Akemi), a very tall girl, and Ootani Atsushi (voiced by Nagata Akira), a very short boy, as they work their way through high school. It's one of the best series in its genre that I've seen, with top-notch humor, some touching moments, and plenty of unexpected twists.

Kurenai is a 12 episode drama/comedy series with some action sprinkled in here and there. It's about Kurenai Shinkurou (voiced by Sawashiro Miruki), a 16-year-old mediator whose job is to settle disputes between the client and other parties – even if it means getting violent – and his latest assignment of guarding Kuhouin Murasaki (voiced by Yuuki Aoi), the 7-year-old runaway daughter of the powerful Kuhouin family. While there's many different themes running through the series, it mostly deals with Shinkurou struggling to take care of Murasaki while the little princess also struggles to adapt to life outside the Kuhouin estate.

FREE GAMES!

I am a huge gamer nut, and a big fan of JiG, a casual gamer site with some of the most comprehensive lists of free games in any genre.

While I am mostly only partial to their collection of puzzle and escape-the-room games, I will never turn down the opportunity to snag free swag. They've listed a huge promotion for some free games on Big Fish, and three of their most popular titles, normally a 20$ download apiece, are being offered free for the next two weeks (and they're yours to keep thereafter, so long as you activate them before March)

Check it out here if you're interested.
