Sundays are now officially boring. With nothin' good on TV and most people dead from the weekend, it's a wonder the evening even exists. Luckily for you, there's Movie Sign to help liven it up! So come and join us in what is perhaps the most insane - yet fun - chat on theOtaku.
What is Movie Sign?
Every week, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. We use episodes available on YouTube so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
It's a comedy show about a man and his robots, stranded in space and forced to watch some of the worst movies ever made as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, talk back to the films and riff on them. You can read up on the show over at the SoL.
Next Episode
Rather than an actual movie, Fugitive Alien is compiled of two episodes of the 1970s Japanese TV series Sutaurufu (aka, Starwolf). Branded as a traitor, fugitive alien (get it?) Starwolf Ken (get it again?) is rescued by Earthlings and goes on a mission with them. Almost everybody else is named Ken, too.
Host Segment Highlights
Old Joel Robinson had a farm, E-I-E-I-O...and on that farm there was a hat party, E-I-E-I-O...with a 'bot fight here and a movie scene there, here a screenplay, there a model, everywhere confusion, E-I-E-I-O...
You know the date, so why not give it a go? Join us on Sunday and see what all the fuss is about! Movie starts at 8PM EST, room opens at 7:30.

FEBRUARY MOVIE SIGN rolls along with:
2/15: Episode 524 - 12 To the Moon (w/short "Design for Dreaming")
2/22: Episode 512 - Mitchell
Meet your fellow otaku and enjoy some anime at the weekly Anime Club in the Community Chat.
What's the Anime Club?
The Anime Club is a weekly room in theOtaku's community chat where we meet to have fun laughing, crying, heckling, and spazzing together while watching a few episodes of anime. The anime will most likely be available on streaming sites since we're mainly going to stick to unlicensed shows. I hope the Anime Club will be a good opportunity for people to find new series and genres that they enjoy and for series to gather support for if/when they're licensed.
What are you watching?
We're currently watching episodes from two shows each week, Lovely Complex first and then Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I hope people will stick around for both but, if one of the series just isn't your thing, feel free to only drop in for the other.
Lovely Complex is a 24 episode romantic comedy that follows the unlikely relationship of Koizumi Risa (voiced by Okamura Akemi), a very tall girl, and Ootani Atsushi (voiced by Nagata Akira), a very short boy, as they work their way through high school. It's one of the best series in its genre that I've seen, with top-notch humor, some touching moments, and plenty of unexpected twists.
Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is the 13 episode sequel to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, which we watched back in October 2008. It's even crazier than the first season, featuring all sorts of weird, twisted, and morbid humor. Click here to watch its opening.
When are the next episodes?
We'll be watching Lovely Complex ep11-12 / Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ep12-13 on Saturday, February 7, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time (7:00 PM Pacific). The chat room will open a half hour early, around 9:30 PM Eastern, and the episodes will last about an hour and forty minutes altogether. We hope to see you there!
The password for the chat room will be: tsunderecafe

Someone's going to kill me for this, but it's totally worth it.
This is probably one of the most addicting things on the internet. Allow me to introduce... Akinator, the Web Genius!
It's basically 20 questions with a genie to guess who you're thinking of. It can be eerily accurate or really off, partially dependent on how well you know your character and therefore if you actually answer the questions correctly.
But seriously, have at it! It's quite fun, I must say.
