What is the Watercooler?

It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.

All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.

All-Call Meeting Tonight

Hey, there. Kei here again to interrupt your regularly scheduled Watercoolerness.

Just a flash to those of you who were interested in the project I mentioned on here last time. The chat will open and start at 9 EST tonight. It'll be passworded, so you have to use the following to get in: freedomofspeech.

I hope to see all of you there. ^^

Matt Smith IS the Doctor!

In a special episode of Doctor Who Confidential broadcast today, the BBC announced that 26-year-old actor Matt Smith has been cast as the Eleventh Doctor. Filming on Season 5 (when Smith takes over from David Tennant) begins in the summer of 2009.

Smith is the youngest ever actor to be cast in the role.

Steven Moffat, who will take over as executive producer and head writer of the series in Season 5, says of Smith: "The Doctor is a very special part, and it takes a very special actor to play him. You need to be old and young at the same time, a boffin and an action hero, a cheeky schoolboy and the wise old man of the universe. As soon as Matt walked through the door, and blew us away with a bold and brand new take on the Time Lord, we knew we had our man."

D-10 Go Bye-Bye

I leave for Vietnam tonight, be back in the middle of Feb. Have a happy New Year everybody!

I won't have internet access for the entirety of my trip (homestay in village in northern Vietnam), but my travel page will probably explode upon my return. Look for it.

Movie Sign #21 - The Final Sacrifice

Happy New Years everyone! January is favorites month on Movie Sign, and these episodes contain some of the best riffs, shorts, host segments, and landmarks of the series. Now's the perfect time to check out just what the heck Movie Sign is and make some new friends.

What is Movie Sign?
Every week, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. We use episodes available on You Tube so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
It's a comedy show about a man and his robots, stranded in space and forced to watch some of the worst movies ever made as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, talk back to the films and riff on them.

Next Episode
It's off to Canada to go to find out the mystery behind a cult in Episode 910 - The Final Sacrifice. Young Troy is determined to find out why his father died and ends up getting more than he bargained for when he ends up being chased by random guys in tanktops. Can he and Zap Rowsdower stop the cult before they unleash an invincible army of warriors upon the world?

Host Segment Highlights
Servo's tribute to Canada ends in shameful tears before everyone comes down with Hockey Hair - except Mike. Later, he catches Grizzly Old Prospector Syndrome while Crow and Servo decide to make a cult.

How they Should Have Ended

Something I found today. There's loads on their site, but this is how the Lord of the Rings should have ended. Enjoy!
