It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.
All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.
Meet your fellow otaku and enjoy some anime at the weekly Anime Club meetings in the Community Chat.
What's the Anime Club?
The Anime Club is a weekly chat room in theOtaku's community chat where we meet to have fun laughing, crying, heckling, and spazzing together while watching a few episodes of anime. The anime will most likely be available on streaming sites since we're mainly going to stick to unlicensed shows. I hope the Anime Club will be a good opportunity for people to find new series and genres that they enjoy, and for series to gather support for if/when they're licensed.
What are you watching?
We're currently watching REC, a ten episode romantic comedy series. (The episode count only goes to 9 but there's a bonus episode 7.5.) It's a very sweet little series about an aspiring voice actress that fans of romance and drama should enjoy.
When are the next episodes?
We will be watching REC episodes 6 - 9 on Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time (7:00 PM Pacific). This includes ep7.5, or alternately ep8 out of 10, which is titled The Unforgiven. The chat room will open a half hour early, around 9:30 PM Eastern, and the episodes will last about an hour altogether. We hope to see you there!
Once again the Satellite of Love crew is tormented with an instructional short from the 1950s. This one is about good grooming habits, and contains some of the best riffs the guys have ever spouted.
So remember, take several hours every day for intense, methodical cleaning. But as Tom remarks, "No no, don't touch that!"
Amy Winfrey, creator of the Traffic Cone Preservation Society, is a former animator for South Park and creator of number of famous webfilms, including Muffin Films, Big Bunny, and most recently Making Fiends, which became a Nicekodeon show. Highly, highly recommended. I've been watching her shows since middle school. Click here for Episode 1:
It's bright cheerfulness belies it's rather dark nature. You can still see the first 20 original (21 if you can find the hidden Thanksgiving post) webcasts for free here, which are, although a little poorer in animation quality, much quirkier and darker than the TV adaption aimed at a younger audience. But the TV show isn't dumbed down. Vendetta is still trying to do anything she can to kill Charlotte. If you like quirky humor and liked Zim, this might be just right for you.
Oh, and it's free. All of the shorts. (And les pantalones, if you've been watching Muffin)
