Meet your fellow otaku and enjoy some anime at the weekly Anime Club meetings in the Community Chat.
What's the Anime Club?
The Anime Club is a weekly chat room in theOtaku's community chat where we meet to have fun laughing, crying, heckling, and spazzing together while watching a few episodes of anime. The anime will most likely be available on streaming sites since we're mainly going to stick to unlicensed shows. I hope the Anime Club will be a good opportunity for people to find new series and genres that they enjoy, and for series to gather support for if/when they're licensed.
What are you watching?
We're currently watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, a twelve episode comedy/slice of life series. It features odd, morbid, and random humor, similar to Pani Poni Dash, Welcome to the NHK, and Genshiken.
When are the next episodes?
We will be watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei episodes 10 - 12 on Saturday, November 1, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time (7:00 PM Pacific). The chat room will open about a half hour early, around 9:30 PM Eastern, and the episodes will last about an hour and fifteen minutes altogether. We hope to see you there!

What anime is next?
It's time again to vote on what you'd like to watch next. Zetsubou Sensei does have a second season (Zoku, at the end of the list), so we can either continue on with that or switch to something else and maybe come back to Zoku later if we want. Below are the current suggestions:

What is Movie Sign?
Each week, we watch an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 while having a fun, spammy chat about it. We use episodes available on You Tube so everyone can watch them simultaneously.
What is MST3K?
It's a comedy show about a man and his robots being forced to watch bad movies as part of a mad scientist's experiment. The man, Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, and the robots Tom Servo and Crow, watch real B-movies and riff on them, that is make jokes and talk back to the films.
Next Episode
The scent of stinkburger is in the air when we watch Episode 421 - Monster A-Go-Go. When an astronaut disappears from his descending space capsule, the military engage in a manhunt for a large, humanoid monster (which either replaced said astronaut, or said astronaut was transformed into).
This movie proves to be one of the worst in MST history: it ran out of money in 1961, and wasn't completed until 1965. As a consequence half the characters vanish and are replaced by others to fill in their roles. Even one returning actor looked so different that he had to play his original character's brother! And if you thought it couldn't get any worse, the narrator closes the move with the suggestion that none of it ever happened!!
The film is preceeded by the short, Circus on Ice, or as Tom says, "Dehumanized Objectified Circus on Ice!"
Host Segment Highlights: Gypsy "doesn't get" Crow... or is it Tom?; Joel and Tom play keep-away with Crow; the guys run through a detailed breakdown of "The Pina Colada Song".

For today, here's an amusing commercial fit for the Halloween season. Basically, the commercial deals with a smooth-riding car and some special Halloween guest. I guess a lot of you have seen this already, so just hush and let those who haven't seen this enjoy the short vid. After all, it is Halloween.
