What is the Watercooler?

It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.

All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.

Some Reflection on Equality

Zach Wahls speaks to the Iowa House of Representatives about his family at a public hearing on a measure to amend the state constitution to codify marriage as only between a man and a woman. It may not be the state you live in, but the man's simple and eloquent words should be heard by everyone across the country and around the world.

Unlicensed and Out of Print

We all have anime we like that either haven't been licensed or are no longer being released, either due to their age or (more likely) the companies collapsing. So what unlicensed or out-of-print titles would you want released or brought back?

Mine would be:

Lovely Complex - One of the trio of comedy/romance series I first watched back in 2009 (along with Toradora! and Honey & Clover), but the only one that has yet to see an American release, whether dubbed or sub-only.

Princess Nine - A nice character-driven series about an all-girls high school baseball team struggling to prove themselves. Formerly licensed by ADV, the title went out-of-print years before the company went under. While Funimation has re-released many other titles it gained from ADV, whether this one will get the same treatment is unknown.

Movie Sign Rewind #16 - Time Chasers

External Image

What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

Buh? Rewind?
A clever way for us to combat death, a "Rewind" session means we've watched the episode before and wanted to watch it again...so we are.

Next Episode
Is it back to the future, or forward to the past? Movie Sign gets all wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey when nerdy physics professor Nick Miller invents a time machine out of a light airplane and a Commodore 64. But when Nick's invention is hijacked by the CEO of GenCorp and used to destroy the future, its up to him and his old flame Lisa to restore time to its proper course.

Host Segment Highlights
Crow has a brilliant idea: travel back to Mike's past and change the course of his life so he's never stranded on the Satellite of Love. But things get worse when Mike is replaced by his alcoholic, chain-smoking older brother Eddie.

Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.

The password for the room is bobevil. Be ready to go and find the video here for watching!

We escape the Rewind loop in February with...
2/6 - Episode 518 - The Atomic Brain (w/short "What About Juvenile Delinquency?")
No meeting on 2/13
2/20 - Episode 419 - The Rebel Set (w/short "Johnny at the Fair")
2/27 - Episode 911 - Devil Fish

There's no Movie Sign on the 13th because Katana and TimeChaser will be off making their fortunes.

You can play SNAKE on YOUTUBE VIDEOS

I wanted to bring to your attention this awesome thing I found. You can play snake in the youtube video player.

Just pause, go to 0:00 hold left key and then hold the up key. A snake will appear in the window. Or if you can get the arrow keys to control the timeline, you can play snake while the video plays. ENJOY!
