It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.
All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.
Tis the season of sharing Halloween or related type videos. And who would I be if I didnt link a Blue Oyster Cult song? Give this a listen, Nosferatu, from the Spectres album. With footage of the classic vampire movie providing some backdrop for this great song.
We need to headbang to some good ol' Rammstein. Here is one of my favorite songs. The original music video was redone with a whole new storyboard that is Halloween-themed. I <3 Rammstein! Enjoy!
What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.
Next Episode
Professor Charles Conway is a mad scientist attempting to develop the proverbial fountain of youth by creating "the 17th gland". Ignoring all aspects of scientific ethics, his research subjects are people who have no family and are under the impression that Conway can cure their depression. However, his research hasn't been successful and his subjects are turned into grotesque zombies. Some of Conway's patients begin to catch on to his scheme and intend to stop him...but can they succeed?
But before that we've got not one, but two shorts! In "Posture Pals", four children decide to better themselves through, uh, posture, while in "Appreciating Our Parents", Tommy learns to suck it up and start helping out his parents.
Host Segment Highlights
The crew decides that the best use of their free time is to make home movies for "America's Goofiest Home Videos" (yes), because that fifteen seconds of fame is worth the burns. Tom and Crow learn to appreciate Gypsy, as we all should, but not before honoring Tor Johnson and creating a messed-up board game based on the equally messed-up house in the flick.
Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.
The password for the room is pajamas. Save some time and be ready by finding the playlist here.
