What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.
Next Episode
We're going way, way back, all the way to the beginning of MST's run on national TV - and so, the beginning of your nightmares. It's a nightmarish time for the town of Tollenberg, where someone or something is killing off mountain climbers. Turns out it's a 'thing' - tentacled, one-eyed beasts from outer space, hiding in a radioactive cloud. And because this is what it is, it's going to take American scientist Alan Brooks to save the day!
Host Segment Highlights
With this being the first episode, Joel's got some explaining to do. The 'bots don't understand why it's a bad thing for humans to lose their heads, nor does Gypsy get why it's bad for her to uncoil...Is Forrest Tucker really that much scarier than a crawling eye? And - RAM CHIPS!
Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.

10/31 - Episode 604 - Zombie Nightmare
Today, the great John Lennon would have turned 70 years old. As a tribute to the legendary Beatle, here are two cover versions of Lennon's famous composition "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds".
Here's one by Elton John, which is really good:
And here's one by William Shatner, which is amusingly silly (not to mention the video animation that adds some psychedelic silliness):
