What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

Decades before Michael J. Fox in Teen Wolf, there was Michael Landon in I was a Teenage Werewolf. Landon stars as troubled teen Tony Rivers, a rebel without a cause. Seeking hypnotherapy for his issues, Rivers falls prey to a mad scientist who uses the kid as a test subject for his experiments in devolving people... into werewolves. Yeah... As usual, tragedy ensues when Rivers' beast within is unleashed, leading to murder and mayhem.

We are in the presence of semi-greatness. This film started life in 1969 under the title Marooned, and is the only film ever viewed by the Satellite crew to have won an Academy Award (for visual effects). The cast isn't too shabby either, with such Hollywood stalwarts as Gregory Peck and Gene Hackman. The story chronicles an attempt by NASA to rescue the crew of a crippled space module, eerily foreshadowing the Apollo 13 disaster only a few months after the film's release. The version we'll be watching was a heavily edited copy re-released in 1980.
