It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.

What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

What do dinosaurs, cyborgs, and martial arts have in common? This week's movie, of course. A nameless fugitive from a future ruled cyborgs escapes to the past. Teaming up with a girl going through her own crisis of faith (to be a nun, or not to be a nun), he must evade capture by the cyborgs and their dinosaur bloodhounds. This was also the most recently released film the MST gang had viewed at the time: released in 1997, used on the show in 1999.
Host Segment Highlights
Is Gypsy once, twice, or three times a lady? Pearl gives the Bots some LSD and we discover that Mike is, sadly, not a clown. Even with brand new legs, Tom still can't kickbox. Thanks for not killing us, Pearl! Droppy the Water Droplet is here to enlighten you on the many, many, many uses for water. Its not nice to mock those with giant Z'Dar chins.
Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.
The password for the room is snickers. You can find the whole movie right here.

It's been a while since we've seen anything Japanese or an edited-down TV series, and Time of the Apes delivers on both! A young boy and his sister visit their uncle's laboratory, which is studying cryogenics and using monkeys for experiments. When an earthquake hits, the two children and a nurse take refuge in cryogenic pods, getting frozen along the way and waking up in a world inhabited by apes! It's more than a passing resemblance to Planet of the Apes, with all the monkey suits but without the famousness.
Host Segment Highlights
It's never a good idea to play baseball indoors, especially if you're in space, and neither is it a good idea to constantly order take-out if you're trying to lose some weight. Johnny doesn't care, and why should he, especially if you don't know or understand the Scopes Monkey Trial. Ape fashion is a bit bizarre but rather functional, and now you too can learn and master the Sandy Frank song!

We all remember them. Tickle-Me Elmo, Furbies, and (if you're as old as me) Teddy Ruxpin. And many more besides. Those special toys that talked or told stories. They enchanted us when we were children, but now they're just plain creepy.
And then there was the greatest one that never was. Beary Smyles...
