Hey guys, it's been quite a while since Anime Club died so I've decided to try and revive it. I created a new world for it, and I'm currently working out the day and time for the weekly meetings, so please stop in and comment if you're interested. What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.
Next Episode
A madman is on the loose, and he's got teenagers - wait, no, hang on - teen-agers on the mind! But who is it? Is it the troubled teen with the shady past? The townsfolk lead us to believe so, but we all know that a twist ending is what's in order here.
Before the flick, we've got a short: "Is This Love?" proposes the tricky question when a college girl goes against her parents' wishes and becomes engaged to a guy she's dated for three months.
Host Segment Highlights
It's Mike's second outing on the SoL, meaning he still think escape is possible. With that abandoned, the crew muse over "what is love?" and work out their problems like one would on the street. The 'bots make some glasses that make Mike act like Mikey (a weepy kid in the movie), so Mike retaliates with the heart-wrenching ballad, "The Janitor Song".
Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.
