THIS WEEK

Pokémon Season 1: The Road to Indigo

Ash Ketchum is a 10-year-old boy from Pallet Town whose only dream is to become a Pokémon Master. Follow along, as he, Pikachu, Brock and Misty travel through Kanto on their quest to learn about the mysterious world of Pokémon and try to catch ‘em all.

In Episode 48, Holy Matrimony!, Ash and Co. stumble across a poster for a missing child, who happens to be none other than James from Team Rocket. Further investigation reveals that James stands to inherit a fortune, but only if he marries his estranged fianceé, Jessebell. James wants nothing to do with her, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like he has much of a choice. Is it for him who the wedding bells toll?

Then, in Episode 72, Go West Young Meowth, Ash and the others get invited to the premiere of Pokémon in Love, the movie starring several of the group’s Pokémon. Everyone gets excited for a trip to the big premiere, but Team Rocket, who is always tagging along, has one protesting member: Meowth. Turns out the city where the film is premiering is Meowth’s hometown and it brings back some bad memories. What kind of sad past has Meowth been holding on to all this time?

Also, learn how our government is supposed to work in Schoolhouse Rock’s Three Ring Government.

So cute!!

You're gonna want soup now

Well, at least the Estrogen Brigade, theOtaku Division, Tennant Class will.

Why don't we have epic voiceovers for soupmakers in America? Is it our lack of soupmakers on TV? :(

Just remember, everyone.

Japanese Jack Bauer uses the bathroom when Japanese Jack Bauer wants to use the bathroom, or else the terrorists win.

Movie Sign #79 - The Thing That Couldn't Die

What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

Next Episode
Her husband having committed suicide (one presumes), a viciously greedy widow named Flavia (we think) raises her dim daughter Jessica on an arid southwestern ranch. While out "dousing" for water one day, she stumbles on an ancient box, containing the head of a not-to-be-trusted Englishman. With the unwitting help of some dude ranch guests, said head is freed from his box and uses about 14% of his other worldly powers to mind-control the majority of this wretched crew.

Host Segment Highlights
I wouldn't call Servo an artist, but Crow commissions him to produce artwork that does nothing but attack the golden 'bot. The gallery opening is cut short, however, when the SoL is pulled to the planet of the Observers, creatures that have evolved beyond language and brains but who talk a whole lot and carry their brains in pans - plus they're pretty annoying, as proven when one goes up to observe Mike and quickly annoys the poor bloke. They later prove their powers by producing whatever Mike is thinking...except that they get it wrong. Crow decides to create a Civil War documentary, and Servo mimicks the movie under the hope of taking over Crow's mind.

Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.

The password for the room is observers. Be ready to go and find the playlist here.
