Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

It's 1948. A pair of poor, pasty pilots working in the African bush learn that the Dutch millionaire father of long-missing Greta Vanderhorn has offered a substantial reward for his daughter's return. She was lost when her plane went down somewhere in "the dark continent" just as the second World War began. After improbably landing their two-engine plane on the jungle floor, they begin a search, wisely carrying with them into the wilderness only a gun and a compass. They soon come across the missing Greta and the tribe that's taken her in, and because this is 1940s Hollywood, every racial stereotype you want is exploited.

Before that we've got a short, "The Phantom Creeps - Chapter 1: The Menacing Power". The evil Dr. Zorka, having discovered the secrets of suspended animation and invisibility, is plotting to rule the world. There's something about a killer mechanical spider and government treason, but you get the idea enough.

Host Segment Highlights
Joel and the 'bots play hide-and-seek with the universe, put on an infomercial based on Bela Lugosi, show off some different variations on binocular effects, and get visited by a pair of "white devils" on the Hexfield. Also, Joel has his own sitcom. Go fig'.

I Kissed My Sister...

This is technically pretty old and probably a few of you have seen this already. But still, it's an interesting read and it brings up a lot of interesting questions.

It's a blog post about a guy having issues with thoughts about his own sister. Y'know, the kind one usually isn't supposed to have for one's sister.

I grew up in a house of boys, so I can't say this ever came up on my end. Thoughts?

Another Bert I. Gordon movie! And going from the title, I bet you can guess sorta what it's about. A kid named Genius (yes, really) accidentally invents a substance that causes all animal life to grow. Genius's sister Nancy and her boyfriend Mike see the money-making potential in the substance and plan to sell it to help solve the world's food problem. Unfortunately, a greedy young opportunist and the group of delinquents he hangs around with decide to steal the stuff and use it for their own purposes. They soon change their minds and decide to eat it for themselves. They grow to gigantic proportions and temporarily take over the town.
