What is the Watercooler?

It's a haven in the middle of a harsh, 9-to-5 world. A place where you can gather with your fellow human beings and bond over a paper cup full of cool refreshment.

All sorts of randomness is welcome here. Post pictures, videos, special Chat information, or just discuss news and current events.

Physical Ironic Power

A couple of clips from the mid-90s series Motorworld hosted by Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame. These videos find Jeremy in Japan, discussing how Tokyo deals with traffic and illegally parked cars, and taking us inside an automotive accessories store.

Cue the Screaming Fangirls

Yes, people. This is, in fact real. It's going to be out in just a few months here, but I feel a little sorry for you guys back in the States.

MST3K Short - Robot Rumpus

Well, we haven't done one of these in a while...Anyway, this past Sunday in Movie Sign, we had the pleasure of having, of all things, a Gumby adventure grace the show. Turns out it's the first Gumby animation ever made, which makes it juuust right for riffing.

It's that time of year again, Detroit!

Hey Great Lakes region otaku! From October 28th to Halloween, Youmacon is going to be held in the Renaissance Centre in Detroit. This leaves only two weeks left! Actually, not even. This means we gotta get crackin'.

So, who is planning on coming? I would like to arrange a meet-up, possibly on Saturday. We will have to schedule the meeting place depending on the number of people and whatnot.

Not sure if you want to come or haven't heard of it? Check out the guests, the events, the panels and location information.

Detroit's not that bad. Seriously. '._.'

...and, yes. There will be Kroze.

Movie Sign #109 - The Screaming Skull

What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

Next Episode
Eric and Jenni are newlyweds, but, like every relationship, they have their problems. Eric has a mansion from his previous marriage while Jenni is a mentally fragile heiress, and when these are combined, you essentially get that Eric wants Jenni dead in order to get said inheritance. But mystery abounds and random skulls get placed around the house. We know who and why, but really, how is this supposed to work?

Before the horror show, we've got one in a slightly different sense. Robot Rumpus is the first Gumby short ever aired, and involves the exploits of Gumby and Pokey as they set robots to do chores around the house - and it goes wrong.

Host Segment Highlights
Didja know that Tom is really a beautiful butterfly? And because of that, the entire rest of the crew ends up dabbling in furrydom. The 'bots are traumatized by the Gumby short, and rightly so, but that somehow turns into trying to scam their way into getting a free coffin. Crow disguises himself as a screaming skull to scare Mike, but it sooo backfires. Never fear though, 'cause the coffin is here!

Whether a seasoned vet or new meat, we invite you all to come on down! Movie starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST, room opens at the :30 beforehand.

The password for the room is gumby. Save some time and be ready by finding the playlist here.

The horror goes on with...
10/24 - Episode 320 - The Unearthly (w/shorts "Posture Pals" and "Appreciating Our Parents")
10/31 - Episode 604 - Zombie Nightmare
