Movie Sign #84 - Gamera vs. Barugon

External Image

What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.

What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

Next Episode
Our second movie about a giant atomic turtle is up, and this time around Gamera is dealing with a beast named Barugon (figures, right?) Spacelunkers come across what they think is a giant opal, but it's really the egg containing Barugon. The beast grows and grows and then goes on a destruction streak, leading to a plan to lure the monster into the ocean. Will Gamera be able to defeat the tongue-lashing creature? Well, the sequels say...

Host Segment Highlights
Mac versus PC? It's so old school that there were puppet robots who did it before you would've ever thought. The boys pull out their toys with the 5,000-piece Fighting Men and Monster Set, but when dinner time is called, the 'bots go to TGI Tokyo to fill their stomachs. The crew enjoys a day at the beach and a lesson in Gamera movie stars before presenting their summaries of the atomic turtle movies.

In Episode 33, Out on the Town, Matt is shepherding T.K. home when T.K. And Patamon get in a fight. Patamon runs off and the others go searching for him only to find some of Myotismon's flunkies instead. Then, in Episode 37, Wizardmon's Gift, Kari has handed herself over to Myotismon after he finds out that she's the Eighth Child. Wizardmon tells the other DigiDestined that the only way to defeat Myotismon is to get Kari's Digivice and Crest back to her, but with Kari already in enemy territory, is the information too little too late?

Ever Heard of Michael Learns to Rock?

From Wikipedia (link):

Michael Learns to Rock (also known as MLTR) is a Danish soft rock band that performs songs in English. It was formed in 1988 and has sold over 10 million records worldwide, mainly in Asia. It has produced seven studio albums as well as several live and greatest hits albums. The band has attributed its success in Asia to a clean-living image and singing in English as a second language, and the fact that their lyrics are relatively easy to learn and sing.

So this band isn't that popular in the US? Well, let's try to fix that.

Here's MLTR with one of their classic songs 25 Minutes. The song is about a guy who realizes how much he loves this girl, and decides to find her. Though the guy did find the girl and confessed to her, he was 25 minutes too late because she had just been married to another man.
