A weekly chat to watch and enjoy the new season of Doctor Who.
What is Doctor Who?
A long-running British scifi TV series about a mysterious man called the Doctor, the last of the Time Lords, who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, a ship disguised as an old fashioned Police Box. The Doctor and his various companions explore the universe and battle evil wherever they encounter it.
This Week
The Doctor has just regenerated. It's never easy being a brand new man with a new face, new personality, even new tastebuds. But this time around it's a lot harder when the Doctor doesn't even get a chance to recover before he's thrown headlong into a crisis. There's only twenty minutes to find an escaped alien convict and save the world from certain destruction (again). His only help lies in Amy Pond, a woman who's whole life was shaped by a childhood encounter with the Time Lord. But is there enough time to convince her all this is real?
Before the season premier, sit down for Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide, an all-access look into the series including interviews with cast and crew.
When and Where?
BBC America every Saturday at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT. This week we'll be starting early with The Ultimate Guide at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT. Chat room will open at 7:30/4:30.
If you can't make it the first time, episodes will repeat at 11/8 PM.

What is it?
Remember the good old days of cartoons? The kind you used to wake up early for on Saturday mornings with the biggest bowl of cereal your parents would let you have and your favorite action figure? Well, the Super Nostalgia Power Hour was created to celebrate those heydays of animation, because they were awesome, and dammit, we want them back.
When is it?
Every Friday starting at 9:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
THIS WEEK
Digimon Adventure: Season 1
Tai, Sora, Matt, Izzy, Mimi, Joe and T.K. are seven normal kids enjoying summer camp, until they are suddenly transported to another world full of monsters: Digital Monsters! Now it’s up to them to save the Digital World (and their own) from a slew of evil bad guys bent on world destruction.
In Episode 18, The Piximon Cometh, the gang is still traveling through the desert, but Agumon is being eaten away at by his memories of digivolving to SkullGreymon. Fortunately, some help (or is it?) arrives in the form of Piximon, a famous Digimon trainer. When Tyranomon attacks, will his strange form of training help, or end up getting everyone deleted?
Then, in Episode 20, The Earthquake of MetalGreymon, Sora and Biyomon are captured by Datamon and its up to the gang to rescue them. Most of the group create a distraction while Tai and Agumon infiltrate Datamon’s pyramid, where he’s trying to create a copy of Sora. But when Etemon shows up, things really go ape. Are Tai and Agumon up to the task?

If anyone remembers reading that essay last month "Japan: It's Not Funny Anymore", this week that author wrote a reply.
Apparently he got a lot of e-mails of people going "well, then why do you still live in Japan?"
The bit about messing with the guy on the train is hilarious. Also, apparently people in Japan like to talk about pooping a lot - I could probably get behind that. More food for thought, I suppose.
What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.
Next Episode
Buck up, it's another season one episode and post-apocolypitic romp on our next outing with Robot Holocaust. Neo, a drifter from the atomic-blasted wastelands, arrives with his klutzy robot sidekick at a factory where slaves labor to fuel the sinister Dark One's Power Station. There, he meets a woman who convinces him to help rescue her scientist father, who has invented a device that can break the Dark One's control over the slaves. Gathering a rag-tag band of allies along the way, Neo and pals travel to the Power Station, where they confront the Dark One's evil servants. It sounds familiar, but really, it isn't.
Host Segment Highlights
We've got ourselves the typical inventions, including a nitro burning pipe and a ski mask with articulated eyebrows - you know, to help robbers in heists. Crow and Tom pretend they're in the "We Zone" and order Joel to do tricks, though like most things, it doesn't go very well. Later, the crew pretends to be in a sitcom, though Cambot's simulator malfunctions and ends in just a mess. And what's better than role playing? Well, that depends, but it's not very fun if most if you're friends aren't into it...
