What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, Twe nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.
Next Episode
It's adventure-exploration time as we head out on safari with The Lost Continent. Some scientists who aren't very good at their job lose a really expensive rocket, so they enlist the help of some resentful air force personnel to fly them out to the jungle to find it. The rocket is apparently on top of a mountain, so they decide to ignore conventional wisdom, land their air craft, and climb it. Following is an epic scene of...rock climbing. Just...rock climbing.
Host Segment Highlights
Joel gives a pep talk to fire up the 'bots, and boy oh boy are they gonna need it as the Mads unveil their vague plan of "rock climbing"...Oh, and apparently Hugh Beaumont (an actor in the movie) is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - but don't worry, he's a really swell guy. Then the crew gets preachy as they perform a sketch before getting distracted by "the cool thing". And no matter what they might say, Cesar Romero did not have ties to the Nazis.
