What is Movie Sign?
Every Sunday night, we nestle down in Chat and watch an episode of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K for short) while spamming up the Chat box. Don't worry - we use episodes available on streaming sites so that we can all watch simultaneously.
What's MST3K?
A comedy show that ran from 1988-1999, it's like watching a movie with running commentary. Joel Robinson or Mike Nelson, along with 'bots Tom Servo and Crow, are forced to watch terrible films as part of a mad scientist's bid for world domination. To keep their (and our) sanity, they talk back to the movies and riff on them. A more detailed explanation can be found up at the SoL.

If you're looking for a nice and heart-warming episode for Valentine's Day - well, this may or may not fill that need. In The Girl In Lovers' Lane, wussy Danny runs away from home to escape parent issues, choosing to train hop and running into Bix Duben (not Big Stupid), hobo extraordinaire. The two find unexpected problems when they arrive in a small town and get love interests, putting that whole "drifter" lifestyle on hold.
Host Segment Highlights
Servo and Crow demand belly buttons so that they can fit in with the guys at the club, but robot modifications tend to not go so well. Getting some inspiration from the movie, the guys sing their train song to pass the time. Then the 'bots want to emulate a weird fight scene from the movie, but Joel isn't in on it, so Crow abandons that path and takes to paying tribute to Jack Elam. But at the end of the day, the 'bots learn that they don't have to accept fiction and take to re-writing the movie.
