WWWHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!! I lost in the second round of the tournament in my second match. What a cruel fate! I hate myself right now cause I know I should have won but my ignorance and my cold got the best of me. I drove like an 1hr 30min just to lose. It was all because of what happened the night before. You know, I played as Ryu as always and didn't lose one match out of 15. So, I was feeling pretty good defeating all these noobs that night in ranked matches. I ended up pausing the game and went to get something to drink. When I got back, I continued to play. I felt INVINCIBLE!! So, I stuck with my good bud Ryu. But after that night, only horror and agony befell me. I lost 23 matches in a row! I was devastated. Me losing on Ryu? IMPOSSIBLE! I couldn't believe my eyes. After so many defeats, instead of going with Ryu or Ken, I went with Blanka. Apparently I found out I'm way better with him than Ryu! I was like HOLY #$%! I'm good with this guy. I had only played with him like 10 times so I didn't think I would do so hot.
So, the next day was tournament day! I was excited! I even wore my headbands and wristbands all the way down there. I wasn't feeling good though cause I was sick all that week and was still sick at the time. So, when I got there, there were a bunch of people cramped in this tiny Gamestop where the tournament was being held. There was even some fat (don't have a clue what race he is) kid decked out in a Ryu costume. He wore a white karate gi and the red headband. Not much of a costume but that's what Ryu wore except for the white belt. HA! Ryu has a black belt! That means he would get pwned by Ryu! lol. Anywho, there were a lot of people. The game was gonna be played on the Xbox 360. Well that sucked for me cause I've been playing the game on PS3. It the same contorls but just a different feel. We began the first match and went on through the list. I was the second match in the first series of matches. I was psyched! I was gonna pick Ryu but he had already gotten to him first. I could have been Ryu too but by a code used in almost every fighting game, you never use the same character as someone else. It gets confusing and it makes you look cheap. So, I chose Blanka. Everybody was cheering me on cause I choose someone other than the regulars like Ken, Ryu, or Sagat, I only wished they had Dan as one of the characters. Amazingly, I destroyed the guy with the retarded green Pikachu. His little electric shocks hurt like crazy! So, I pwned him and had to wait for next set of matches. That's when the hurting begins!
This time, I was the third match. I was excited and people were telling me to win it! I was psyched! When we chose our characters, he didn't chose Ryu. So, in my arrogant mind I chose him. I didn't even think about the night before. I only wanted to be my favorite character. Everyone looked at me like I was retarded and asked me "Why in the hell did you pick him?" So, my spirit broken, and was broken even more when my opponent chose the one person I hat to face most on Ryu. The Anti-Ryu himself, Sagat! I knew at that point that I was screwed! I only hoped he sucked with him! Unfortunatley for me, he didn't! I fought valiantly against this beast. But alas, he was too powerful! No Shoriyuken or Hadouken could penetrate through his defenses. Combos were nearly impossible to do against him. I couldn't even high kick him in mid air because his high punches over came my kicks. They also took a hell of a lot of life too. After a good fight, I lost the first round of the match. The next round was a punisher for my crimes of ignorance. I had not chance and not even a bit of hope. He blocked everything I threw at him. He was so fast that round that I could even get a punch off. He ended up getting a perfect on me. A PERFECT!! That seems impossible! How can something like that happen? There's no way! Especially getting it only 20 secs into the match! I felt an unbearable weight. People were disappointed and kept telling me how I should have stuck with Blanka. I could have had the chance to win if I had used him. I knew it in my mind too. But, I was an idiot and chose the guy I lost 23 rounds the night before. Why didn't I chose Blanka?
After the matches were done and over with, the winners got their green headbands and surprisingly they got cheated out of their other prize. They were suppose to get controllers specifically made for fighting games but they didn't get them. Those things are freaking expensive. They're like $80 and they didn't get them. Too bad for them cause they left which might indicate that they didn't know they were gonna receive that prize. Sucks for them. HAHA! lol. Also, the guy who beat me lost the in the third series of matches. He was cool and so was everyone else. I tried to get their gamer tags but found out none of them had a PS3. I should have told them I had a Xbox 360 too (which I do). Oh well. So, after talking to some people, I left and headed for home. The one good thing about losing is the fact that now I don't have to drive all the way up to North Carolina from South Carolina. That's like a 3 to 4 hr drive from where I live. So, I guess there's a bright side to it. lol.
After I got home, I played some more Street Fighter IV. I went online and instead going into ranked, I chose player so that I don't lose points. I ended up choosing Ryu for all my battles and unfortunately lost every match with him again. I stuck with Blanka and for some reason I've been pwning noobs ever sense. So, this tournament was more of a learning experience. I learned that choosing Ryu is bad because everybody knows him. They know his moves all too well and they are easily blockable. Not saying that Ryu is a bad character to fight with it's just you have to try to stem away from the usual techniques people use with him like after getting knocked down you Shoriyuken. It works on some people but against good players it's pointless. Especially using the Shoriyuken using the high punch button. You're basically saying "Kill me I'm wide open!" Just a little tip. Small ones are the best, but the move shouldn't be used constantly or it becomes to predictable. Also, another word of advice to anyone who uses Ryu or anyone else with a Hadouken, NEVER USE IT AT JUMPING DISTANCE FROM THE OPPONENT! You're screwed after that cause you're wide open too. One more word of advice for all characters, using the sweep kick can leave you way open. It takes so long to do that if it's blocked, it leaves them enough time to counterattack. Especially when you do the jump kick + sweep kick combo. If the jump kick is blocked, then the sweep kick is gonna be blocked as well. That's why I recommend using crouching medium kicks. They're quick and not as easy to counter attack. Sweep kicks are fine but use them sparingly. Also, work on grabs and focus attacks. They can save your ass big time! Well, I'm sure you've had enough of me talking about my epic fail but I( had to get it off my chest. For all the Street Fighter Fans who read this, I hoped you learned something from it. If not, then that's fine too. I actually enjoyed writing this whole story anyway. It's a lot more then I'll ever be able to write in English class. HAHA! Well, CYA!
Also, If anyone who wants to challenge me. Please do so. I'm just bored of facing people who are terrible at this game online. I want some competition! I'm not saying that I'm the greatest but everyone I've faced lately has been a little suckish. Oh well.
