BBC Confirms Season 7 for 2012 UPDATE: Maybe, maybe not?

With rumors swirling of Karen and Arthur moving on after this season, and others involving Matt trying to find roles in Hollywood and the potential for a year of nothing but specials, the BBC finally confirmed via Twitter that they have ordered fourteen new episodes of Doctor Who for 2012, with Matt Smith returning to play the Doctor once again. This news was also re-confirmed by Steven Moffat.

EDIT:

It seems the BBC can't quite get their act together to properly inform the public what exact form Doctor Who will take in 2012.

There will be no full season, but it won't be slimmed back to a handful of specials like in 2009, as far as can be surmised. And yet there's been no reneging on the previous news that fourteen episodes have been commissioned.

So, will it be another split season, but starting in autumn and finishing in winter early 2013?

Your guess is as good as mine, but I'll stay on top of this.

If only he’d had just a little more time. And time is the business of Mr Symington and Mr Blenkinsop. They’ll lend him some – at a very reasonable rate of interest.

Detecting a problem, the Doctor, Amy and Rory go undercover at the bank. But they have to move fast to stop Symington and Blenkinsop before they cash in their investments.

Final Season of The Sarah Jane Adventures in October

The final season of The Sarah Jane Adventures starring the late Elisabeth Sladen will be broadcast in October.

The season consists of three 2-part stories: Sky and The Curse of Clyde Langer by Phil Ford, and The Man Who Wasn't There by Gareth Roberts.

"Friendship dies and true love lies..."

A disturbing bit of verse related to the mid-season finale has been released, with ominous possibilities for our heroes...

Demons run when a good man goes to war,

Night will fall and drown the sun when a good man goes to war,

Friendship dies and true love lies, night will fall and the dark will rise,

When a good man goes to war.

Classic story "The Reign of Terror" to have missings episodes animated for DVD release

2|Entertain, distributors of the classic Doctor Who series on DVD, have announced that the missing Episodes 4 and 5 of the classic Hartnell adventure "The Reign of Terror" will be animated for the forthcoming DVD release.

Many classic Doctor Who serials from the 1960s are either incomplete or missing entirely. In the past on VHS releases, missing episodes would be replaced with either linking narration, or a combination of the original audio track, production stills and narrating subtitles.

The first incomplete classic story to receive an animation treatment was the Troughton 8-parter "The Invasion", which is missing Episodes 1 and 4. Animation was done the studio Cosgrove Hall.

For "The Reign of Terror", the animation will be a joint effort between Big Finish (the company that has produced original Doctor Who audio dramas since 1999) and animation company Theta Sigma, whose 'Thetamation' is described as "a totally new style of animation, a hybrid of the classic anime styles of the 80s and high-technology".

"The Reign of Terror" was the final serial of the series' first season, broadcast from August - September 1964.
