Here is a little informative video about the origin and history of the Police Box, that curiously British mode of communication that became an icon thanks to a certain TV series.

This video was aired back in 1993 before a repeat of the classic Jon Pertwee serial Planet Of The Daleks, as part of the series' 30th Anniversary.

There is also a clip from the feature film Dr. Who And The Daleks, starring Peter Cushing as "Dr. Who" (an eccentric human scientist and not a Time Lord like in the TV show).
