Actually he's not wild it turns out--- wait lemme back up a bit and explain the situation:
11:59, 23rd of November. Just 1 minute away from Thanksgiving, when my sister's boyfriend has to leave. He comes in about a minute or two later later telling us about a tiny black kitten that had just wondered across the highway towards him with a slight limp and what looked like a bad leg. Earlier that day, he found a larger looking black cat who was a bit timid around people and dispite being inside our house, quickly left. We assumed the little one was somehow related.
well we took a look at it's leg, which was covered in leaves and some mud, but more importantly a large gaping hole in it's shoulder with some exposed muscle, skin and even some bone. Feeling bad for it, we started cleaning it up and bandaging it as best we could. A vet was out of the question at this time, it's Thanksgiving and it's the holidays. Yes we could have called in for an emergency, but we where moreso worried about the costs of what this could be. Would the kitten's leg need to be amputated? Would it ever even be able to walk properly if the leg heals?
The lil' thing had spirit though. seeing us just made him run as fast as he could with his one good front paw purring as loudly as he could possibly be, rubbing, rolling, purring, even on his bad shoulder, it was like he wasn't even feeling the pain. So we fed him and gave him water, and made a bed in a box for him (of which he was trying to jump out of and try to pull himself up with both his good and bad front legs o_o) but eventually he calmed down and went to sleep.
Due to granny's inability to go very far to places, and fearing it'd cost too much to take him to the vet, she opted instead for us to simply tend to the wound itself. I was worried there was more to the damage then what we could visibly see (which already looked pretty bad to begin with opo;) and asked my sister's boyfriend if it was possible if he could take the kitty. he felt partly obligated due to finding the little kitten.
well, the earliest would be Tuesday. he had classes, and vet would be open over the weekend, so we'll have to bandage the wound ourselves 'til then.
Fast forward to tuesday, and he does finally take the kitten to the vet. It's a little boy, part of his leg bone was shattered pretty bad, but it'll heal and he'll eventually regain about 80% use of his leg. She was very surprised at the fact he didn't suffer any nerve damage despite the severity. He was kept overnight. (also to note: he eats VERY well, he drinks VERY well, and he just goes to town on leftover holiday ham opo;)
Well today, the boyfriend comes in telling us he was about to go pick up the kitty when he found the previous cat outside. a bit timid still but he took it inside. It was female, and had similar mannerisms to the kitten. When he brought the kitten in, it was apparent: the cat was indeed the kitten's mother.
Now just so everyone knows about this: My grandmother has vowed never to own another animal ever since our old kitty went missing (which she's said for years) so it was a little heart breaking to hear her repeat it again with such a small precious lil' trooper that he is purring through everything like nothing was wrong. Well he CERTAINLY can't go outside for at LEAST 6 weeks, and I dunno about the rest of you but I'll be darned if that lil' guy ever goes back outside >_o!
On that note though, both mamma kitty and lil' kitty are both in the house right now. soaking in the hospitality and enjoying a meal for once. They are both healthy and happy as far as I can tell. Mamma kitty was very inquisitive and alert to everything to the point of my not even being surprised if she was trained.
So for now at least, we have two happy kitties.
