“Get up already Lee!” Luna shouted at me,” we're halfway there! Get up!” Luna was trying to pull me up from the ground where I was planted on, but it worked to no avail.
“But I’m so tired! Cant we rest for a bit?” I was worn out from all of the walking we did in two days.
“No! Now get up!”
“But all we've done so far is walked our butts off! What happened to 'enjoying the scenery of the beautiful forest? I cant take this anymore!” I pouted.
It was true. All we did for two days was walk or hunt, both of which required too much energy that I didn’t have at the moment to do. When we weren’t walking, we were out hunting for food for a meal, since all the food in Himitsu was burned down with the village, we had to rely on hunting animals for the source of our food. The only time we could hunt was night though, since that was when we could access our weapons, our natural claws and fangs that came when we shifted into our wolf forms.
The first thing we had to do when hunting was catch the scent of a wild animal that would be big enough for Luna and I to share, a deer for instance. Once we have the scent, we can track the animal and our instincts kick in. We stalk the prey until it tires out or its in a good spot, and then Luna and I tackle it at the same time, bringing it to the ground. One of us, usually Luna, ends the life of the animal by biting into its neck, the vital source of life for any being. If the animal we hunted had fur, we would swiftly pick off the fur with our teeth, but if it didn’t, we would go right to the best part of the hunt, the devouring. Literally, we end up devouring the meat since we don’t get to eat anytime in the day, so by the time night comes around, we're starved, not only from not getting to eat, but also because of the walking that burns up our energy.
After we've eaten our fill, we set up camp, though there isn't much of camp to set up. We start a fire using sticks and stones that will keep us warm throughout the whole night until we wake up again. Then we start walking once again, and repeat.
“Pleeeeasssseee? Cant we just have a tiny little break?” I pleaded, giving Luna my best puppy dog face, which wasn’t all that hard to do. Luna glared at me in response, yet I still begged for a few more minutes until Luna finally looked away.
“Tch, fine! You get your stupid break,” she said, falling victim to my adorable and irresistible impression.
“Yay!” I rejoiced, jumping up, bursting into song, and dancing around.
“So you have enough energy to do that...but not to walk...?” Luna asked me with a sigh. I ignored her comment and kept on happy dancing to my content. Once Luna realized I wasn’t going to respond she scanned the forest with her ears, moving them every which way until they fixated in a certain direction, and concentrated as if she were attempting to hear a pin drop in the forest.
“Hey, be quiet for a minute,” she told me, crossing one of her arms in front of me that stopped me from dancing. I didnt stop singing or dancing in place however. “Cut that out!” She yelled and grabbed me by the arm, finally halting me. I continued to sing despite her.
“I said SHUT UP!” Luna shouted and slapped me on the head.
“Owie! You didn’t hafta hit me you know,” I said as I held the spot on my head where her hand made contact with.
“Shh,” she shushed me. I became quiet and the two of us listened to the sounds of the forest. Luna glanced around and twitched her ears around as if she had lost the area she was so focused on before.
“You can come out now you know,” Luna called out to the seemingly empty woods,”don’t you think that you’re a little too old to be playing hide and seek?”
“Have you gone crazy Luna!? I don’t think that anyone besides us is-”
At that very moment I stopped mid-sentence as someone hopped down from a tree that stood a few feet in front of us. I gasped and Luna calmly asked-
“What do you think you're doing here?”
