Imagine having to tear off your skin and muscles from your bones every time you got hungry. It would sort of make you want to stop eating, wouldn't it? Well, you've never been hunting. Just the adrenalline rush of capturing prey makes feeding worth the pain. I can't even explain what it feels like to drink blood. It's a truly sensual feeling, equivalent only to holding your greatest love tightly in your arms and kissing her with such emotion that it makes your heart swell.
This comparison reminded me of some unwanted apprehension I had to taking this young woman down. She was something to me, perhaps? No, I had no need for friends or loved ones, so that couldn't be it. More than likely I had killed her paramour and she had just happened by me. Maybe I felt pity for her loss or a sense of guilt for what I'd done. However, I currently had no qualms with taking her out anyway. If I couldn't remember it, it wasn't important.
I have no recollection of what I said to her, simply that I had. The scent of her blood, coursing through her veins, warm and exciting, was much too powerful. I simply remember advancing towards her, crouched like a predator, ready to spring. Delighting in her pulse getting faster and faster as I approached. Lunging. And then there was her scream. The shrill, piercing, completely enthralling cry of fear that made her so damn irresistable. It rang in my ears and stopped me in my tracks. I smiled lightly through the shocks of electricity and just kept breathing. Breathing in that wonderful, wonderful scent.
And then I just couldn't wait any longer. I dashed forward and put my hand on her shoulder. Luckily, we were right in front of a wall. I shoved the human up against it. I felt something wet on my neck. I almost purred in contentment. She was crying now. With the flat, dull parts of my hand I shoved her head to the side with enough force to scare her without snapping her neck. And there. . . There it was. . . Her carotid artery. Mmmmm. What a prize. I lowered my lips to it and just stood there for a moment,
