If I simply hinted at the fact that I wasn't normal, she would catch my drift, wouldn't she?
"Because I'm not human," I said slowly and clearly. Her eyes widened and I heard her cute little heartbeat speed up. "N-not... Human?" I smiled. Exactly the response I had been worrying about. She never disappointed, did she? If she ran, I would follow her. When I followed her, I'd trap her with her back against the wall. And then it would all be over, my hunger quelled and my life over.

My friend roared up again, much louder than before. Her scent was just so close. It hung around me like a cloak of sweet roses and spicy cinnamon. I inhaled through my nose again. Excitement and pleasure rippled through my arms and legs. I hadn't fed on a real, live human being in so long. I couldn't wait to feel my teeth snap down on her throat. To hear her scream echo exquisitely through my ears...
Wait. WHAT?! What was I even thinking?! This was Katy we were talking about! My everything, who I loved more than the sun, and the moon, and the stars. How could I even imagine such devious things about her? How could anyone even think of harming her? What of-
I made the mistake of breathing in again. Mistake? No. No mistake.
