Thwump.
"What was that?" Ryle and I turned our heads toward the faint sound. "Oh my-!!"
A boy like Ryle lay sprawled out on the rocky ground, limbs slightly akimbo as if he toppled over. The rocks around him were stained crimson with the blood pouring out of his ribs.
Ryle rushed forward, and I ran after him in shock. Falling to his knees on the craggy surface, Ryle ripped the sleeve of his shirt and wrapped it around the gash. "Caelia, find some poultice, quick!"
"Uhh- Polltis, right..." I panicked. What the heck is that?
"Never mind. We have to get him help-" Ryle hoisted the body over his shoulder. "Help me, please..."
I quickly took an arm and dragged the boy with all my strength. My heart quickened as I felt his blood slowly seeping into my side. "Where are we going?!"
"My house. It's right up this cliff." he tilted his head up the steep pebbly climb ahead.
"How convenient!" I laughed as my death grip on him slipped a bit.
"GRRRROOOOAWWR!"
I screamed as a rabbid bear burst through the scattered trees, scoring his claws furiously across the bark. He definitely wasn't happy.
"Caelia, I'll take care of it! Just get him to the house!" The heavy weight on my shoulder suddenly crashed on me as Ryle spun around and drew his sword. I cursed under my breath and dragged the mysterious dying boy up the cliff.
I risked a look back in time to see my new friend's sword graze the monster's neck. This only made it angrier as it swiped dangerously close to Ryle.
My feet slipped on the loose pebbles and I fell to the ground with a CRACK! Damn!! Blood trickled down my mouth as I got back up and heaved him with all the strength over my shoulder. I was nearly there....
"Caelia!!" Ryle screamed. I had to drop the boy in time to dodge a gigantic bloody paw.
"Sorry," I said under my breath as the unconscious boy fell hard on the stone. The bear roared as it smelled the blood on my shirt, and reared on it's legs. Oh crap.
And then a sword sprouted magnificently through his heart, blood shining as it scattered over me. "Ugggh!!"
"Sorry! Trying to save lives here!" Ryle smiled guiltily as he drew his sword from the dead bear.
Together, we dragged the unconscious body up the last of the cliff. I saw the house right away, a small house, but it would have to do.
"If you survive this, I'm gonna kill you," I laughed to the boy, whether he heard me or not.
