Hello everyone,
Im glad to be back posting lol. i know its been a few days since i last posted, so ive got alot of stuff to post to make up for lost time lol. Id personally like to thank stararnold for allowing me the Guest Poster status on 2 of his pages, i was surprised when i saw my guest posting list had jumped to 3 so suddenly, and i am looking forward to making progress in that direction soon :)
I guess ill start things off by saying (for wrestling fans) that im glad to see that CM Punk finally won the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE Monday night Raw last week. To be honest, Wrestling as of late had been kinda bleak and i had found myself watching it less and less by the week, especially after the WWE Draft since there would be no world championship on Raw since all 3 of the other World championships were on the other 2 shows. I was glad that CM Punk was drafted to Raw though, because i was excited that id actually get the chance to see him more, sine i dont get the Sci-fi channel where ECW is broadcasted (which is where he wrestled before being drafted to RAW) . Lady Luck shined her fortune on me last monday while i was watching RAW lol. I found myself waking up early and i was bored so i thought id record Raw while i was getting ready for work so i could watch it the next morning when i got home (because nothing good comes on tuesdays) lol. In the first few minutes of the show, Edge managed to make his way to the ring to show off to the crowd, and ended up being assaulted by Batista. While Edge was getting beat up, i went into the kitchen to get something to drink and when i came back into my room, CM Punk was inside the ring cashing in the world title contract he won at Wrestlemania, after putting the already beaten Edge in the GTS (finishing move) We had a new champ, which shocked me and brought a smile to my face. It had been a while since something in wrestling had actually surprised me, so its one of my favorite wrestling moments of all time for sure. Congratulations CM Punk, he's paid his dues and he deserves it.
Now onto the anime lol.
Throughout the week, even though i didnt post much i still managed to watch some more Newtype demo dvds. I also finished watching Roujin Z(finally) lol. Ive made 2 new wallpapers in the past couple days, one of Mr. Popo from Dragonball and a Street Fighter wallpaper that i made this morning. Im planning on making another one today, possibly related to Saint Seiya, so be on the lookout for it :)
well i suppose it is time to tell you all of my opinons of the episodes on the Newtype demo dvds i managed to watch :)
NEWTYPE USA DEMO DVD - NOVEMBER 2005 ISSUE
GHOST STORIES - episode 1
In my opinion, based on this one episode, this show seemed like a mixture of Scooby Doo and Witch Hunter Robin lol. Dont get me wrong, it was quite enjoyable and pretty different than most of the other anime shows ive seen and when i read the name of the show, i figured it would be like a collection of those japanese horror films. Its hard to say which direction the series goes just by watching this one episode, but id like to say that this episode was enjoyable and different at the same time, kinda like pokemon with magic spells lol, it has to be seen to be understood :)
SHADOW SKILL - episode 1
Shadow Skill was pretty cool, alot of action and best of all is that it is animated in the same way that "Legend of Crystania" is, so i warmed up to it quite well. It kinda had a Saint Seiya feel to the show, with the fighting and everything, but it had its own style, so its hard to find something off the top of my head to compare it to. Id really like to see more of the series though because it just started getting good towards the end of the first episode. Ill probably find myself looking this series up online later today lol.
GANKUTSUOU: THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO - episode 1
first off, this was a pretty wierd show. Wierd in a somewhat unexpected good way i suppose lol. Ive read the book and seen the movie versions of the original "Count of monte Christo" and i must say that this anime has similar likenesses to the book, but is certainly its own craft. To be honest, its kinda depressing and intriguing at the same time. I found myself wondering who the good guys and who the bad guys were, everything seems shrouded in mystery, and only being able to see the first episode doesnt really help matters much lol. It was a different and interesting episode and id like to see how thingsturn out thats for sure.
NEWTYPE USA DEMO DVD: NOVEMBER 2003 ISSUE
SAINT SEIYA - episode 1
I really like Saint Seiya lol. I first saw this series a few years ago on cartoon network where it was called Knights of the Zodiac and was edited by the childrens animation company "DIC". That means that the blood was changed to a purple color and the curse words were taken out as well lol. I have the first volume of "Knights of the Zodiac on vhs and it is still enjoyable. However, after watching volume 2 of the actual "Saint Seiya" version, i knew that the original was the only way to go. Not only is it unedited with blood, violence and language, the japanese opening and ending scenes are in my opinion way better, even though i still like the ending of the KOTZ version. watching this series takes me back to the days of Ronin Warriors and Sailor Moon, and i reccomend this series to any old school anime fans out there. :)
PRETEAR - episode 1
This first episode didnt really explain alot. All i gathered from this episode is that there are a group of magicians from another dimension that come to earth to stop demon seeds from destroying the world, and they need the help of a "chosen one" on earth to help them beat it. Kinda like a blend of Inuyasha, Blue Seed, and Cinderella. It wasnt extraordinary, but it wasnt bad either, It had a good blend of comedy though and i managed to like a few parts. I found it to be enjoyable and comedic at times, but not along the lines of something i havent seen before :)
NEWTYPE USA DEMO DVD: MARCH 2003 ISSUE
RahXephon: episode -unknown
This was the first Newtype demo dvd that i ever recieved, it came with the first newtype magazine that i ever bought , and originally the dvds only had one episode on them and a few trailers. this dvd had an episode of RahXephon on it, but i do not know which episode it is because it doesnt say. I found this show to be pretty crazy, it reminded me alot of Evangelion- in all aspects.plot, Music, mecha, characters, dialouge. Id say that so far maybe this series isnt as depressing as Evangelion, but i have only seen this episode so far, so the night is still young lol. This episode has kinda urged me to watch the 2 volumes i have on dvd to try and learn more about it, ive heard alot of good stuff on it, so id hate to state an opinion on it until i watch some more of it :)
Well, I suppose that will be it for today, thats quite a bit of rambling if you ask me lol. Remember - if you have any in depth questions about any thing ive posted on here, feel free to ask anytime. I enjoy helping any way i can :) I hope you all enjoy the post and the wallpapers, hope to chat again soon :)
stay strong,
Jason
It's me! lol
Hello everyone,
Im sorry about not posting yesterday lol. The past couple of days at work have been pretty rough and yesterday when i got home from work i ended up falling asleep while laying on the floor in my room lol. To be honest, I dont even remember how i ended up on the floor, but i slept there for about 6 hours and when i finally woke up, it felt like someone had done alot of wrestling moves to me lol.
Its good to be posting though :) in case you havent noticed, i posted a pic of myself at the top of the post :) i got the Idea from Bulma and i thought id give it a try, after all - im sure there are people out there that often wonder what i look like im sure lol. Now is as good a day as any ^^ I havent been up to much other than sleeping etc. Yesterday I finally finished Roujin Z lol, and im glad to say that it ended very much to my liking :) while i was just going through my photobucket account (one of them anyways - i have 4 lol) I just saw a scan of the Tenchi Muyo movie i have, and it kinda gave me the urge to want to watch it, so thats probably what i have in store for today as for fun/ being lazy ^^
Tenchi Muyo The movie: Tenchi in love
Im not sure if i told anyone, but i bought a few games this past weekend -
Red Dead Revolver (xbox)
Wrestlemania 18 (Gamecube)
Backyard Wrestling: dont try this at home (PS2)
Ive always liked Red Dead Revolver, I pretty much bought the other 2 games because they were pretty cheap and since a guy i work with and myself are wreslting fans - it gives us something new to do while we are at work on lunch lol. Youd be surprised how much fun somone can have for 1 hour at work thats for sure ^^
Oh yea, i also wanted to let everyone know that my next wallpapers will be of "Blue Seed" and Im honored that i came up with the idea of making a Mr. Popo (dragonball,Z,GT) wallpaper because i dont think i have ever seen a Mr. Popo wallpaper. He's one of my favorite characters and its the least i can do to give him justice, besides you all know how much i like to do things that havent been done before ^^ Its been a long time coming, so hopefully i can start on them and finish them tommorrow! Mr. popo is the greatest! lol.
Blue Seed
Ive also been thinking of making another world that will be videogame/wrestling/other random stuff that i like/ related, so feel free to give me your opinion about that, I like using this for anime and anime related stuff, and i just dont want to blend everything together on this world sometimes. It's just a thought for now, i know it'll be more work and i guess it would be easier to divide anime from some of my other random stuff. Its still a thought in progress, so ill keep thinking about it lol.
On another note, im really glad for theotaku increasing the pic limit on these posts, thats definitely where i flourish, i love posting pics of random anime stuff i have, thats for sure ^^
and last but not least, here is a pic of all my Metal Gear Solid related stuff
Metal Gear (NES)
Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
Metal Gear Solid VR missions (PS1)
Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of liberty (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
Strategey guides for
MGS
MGS 2 Sons of liberty
MGS 3 Snake eater
and the special edition art book from MGS 3
i hope you all enjoy and i look forward to chatting soon!!!
stay strong,
Jason
Hello everyone :)
It looks like ive posted a little late again lol. I intended on posting earlier this morning when i woke up the first time (around 3am), but i ended up falling back to sleep while watching a demo anime dvd, and i eventually woke up around noon, so here i am with a few new things to post about lol.
I havent been too busy today, right now im doing laundry and playing ESPN NFL 2K5 (xbox) while im posting lol. Last night i pretty much tired myself out from playing Red Dead Revolver (xbox) and i found myself yet again, unable to finish Roujin Z, due to the fact that i had to clean out the storage building behind my house, which ended up taking about 4 hours in the heat of the day lol. However - yesterday afternoon i did find time to watch some more anime demo dvds before i fell asleep. A few minutes ago i managed to make some dvd case labels for some of the demo dvds, that way i wouldnt have to open each blank dvd case in order to read the actual dvd to find out which episodes/trailers were on there, so im sure that will save me time and energy in the future the next time i need to go through the dvds :)
On another note, Im really glad that theotaku has allowed an increased amount of picture posting within the posts. Thats great news especially for me - being that i believe the best part of my posts are the pictures lol. all these words seem so bland when im not able to put up pics to illustrate what im talking about, so im really looking forward to putting up more pics for you all to enjoy :)
Well, i suppose there is no sense in keeping you waiting and prolonging the large amount of typing im about to do lol, so here are the quick reviews of the episodes on the Newtype USa demo dvds ^^
NEWTYPE USA DEMO DVD - OCTOBER 2007 ISSUE
PUMPKIN SCISSORS - episode 1
Pumkin Scissors kinda threw me off guard. When i read the name of the show, i figured it would be a magical type of anime with fairies and stuff like that lol. So i wasnt really expecting much, but i soon found out that this series (based on this one episode) is a political/military based anime with action, tactical situations and the lives of different people in a combat group. I found myself actually enjoying it because it had a really good blend of comedy action and it tended to remind me of full Metal Panic in a strange way, which is a good thing lol.
WELCOME TO THE NHK - episode 1
I really liked this episode lol. It was kinda hard to figure things out about this show until about the last few minutes of the episode, because everything is exaggerated in a sense lol. From what i gained from this episode, It is about a guy who is paranoid and anti-social who believes that there is a worldwide conspiracy against anti-social people and he has been staying in his apartment for the past 3 years straight, only leaving to go to certain places - such as a nearby park. I really would like to get the rest of this series and see how it plays out, because the main character is pretty hillarious when he starts rambling and conjuring up strange thoughts and exaggerations, and it gets so extreme that you find yourself laughing and possibly believeing him to an extent. Im going read up more on it online to get other's opinions on it and see if ill be encouraged to find a way to buy it, but as of now, id really like to lol.
PHOENIX - episode 1
this episode was pretty fast paced. It is animated and has characters very similar to those from the Cyborg - 009 series and i was worried that i wouldnt care for it much because i never really liked how the characters were so oddly proportioned body-wise, for instance - having huge noses and stuff lol. Im surprised to say that i enjoyed this episode as well as i did the others ^^ It is about a village near a volcano and the villagers that live there. there is a legend that the Phoenix lives at the top of the volcano and if someone were to drink its blood they would be granted eternal life. One of the villager's sister is dying , so the sister's husband decides in a last ditch effort to climb the mountain and kill the Phoenix to save her life. Sadly after a long struggle, the husband dies and is later found by the villagers, leaving only the small brother to help his sister. a few days later a man is washed upon the shores of the ocean, who later reveals himself to be a medicine man and in turn saves the sick woman and eventually marries her after they had bonded together over time In my opinion it was a good episode and i wonder what the rest of the series holds, im expecting it to be pretty short, since the episodes really cover alot of ground. ther are pretty violent as well, but it offers a different type of anime experience thats for sure :)
OTAKU USA DEMO DVD - DECEMBER 2007 ISSUE (this is a different anime magazine)
ASTRO BOY - episode 1
Im actually pretty picky when it comes to older anime series like Astro Boy and Speed Racer. This episode was in black and white and it was pretty violent as well. Until yesterday, i had only seen a couple episodes of Astro Boy and i had played a demo of the videogame a few years ago and i didnt know he was originally a human. This first episode was pretty sad for the most part and to be as old as it is, I still believe it has pretty good animation for its time and a good background message about life and the obstacles everyone has to go through, so if you havent had the chance to watch this series, id at least reccomend the first episode :)
NOEIN - episode 1
This episode was wierd lol. It was hard to gather any real info just from this one episode alone, so there isnt much i can say other than that it seems like it is one of those sci fi altered parallel, matrix type anime shows. The animation was great though and it was very intruiging to watch, always wondering what the main intentions of the episode were. Id reccomend anime fans to look it up and see if it is their type of thing. I may have just been tired while i was watching it, but it just seemed pretty wierd, it's probably what gave me nightmares last night LOL.
FRUITS BASKET - episode 1
I really enjoyed watching this episode lol. It had alot of funny parts and i found a new favorite character that i like lol. I cant remember his name , but its one of the main male characters that wears the kimono, always talking in a high pitched voice and the sorts lol. Im sure most of you here have probably seen this anime, Ive just seen this one episode and it is pretty entertaining, comedic, and intruiging. Id like to see more thats for sure, especially after seeing the end of the first episode ^^
NEWTYPE USA DEMO DVD AUGUST 2003 ISSUE
MAZINKAISER - episode 1
I absolutely loved this episode lol. I believe it is a homage to the old robot animations such as Voltron and the original Gundam. This series is animated alot similarly to the G-Gundam series which is right up my alley lol. It starts off right with a battle of mutliple robots attacking a city and Mazinger Z(sp) coming to the rescue, only to be assaulted by all of the robots. Then the Larger and more experienced Great Mazinger arrives and they are both decimated pretty badly, with Mazinger Z being taken by the enmy and the pilot being thrown miles away in the cockpit pod as Great Mazinger is being dismantled. Great Mazinger is saved by a large ship, but the pilot of Mazinger Z is still missing. this episode had one of the greatest robot battles ive ever seen, 2 of them actually - in one episode. i really want this series lol, i knew i would enjoy it because i enjoyed the opening and ending themes, which im about to download if i can lol. This is top class anime in my opinion, one of the best robot anime ive seen. Id say the only downplay is that they yell out the name of their attacks, i know alot of people dont really like that, but id say its a good burts of nostalgia if you are a fan of the old style like myself lol. i reccomend this for everyone ^^
Well, i think that will be all of the reviews for today, i dont want to burn you guys out with my excessive rambling, so i think im going to get back to finishing this game so i can finally after all these years finish Roujin Z
Roujin Z
In the mean time i thank you all for visiting and i look forwrd to posting about more stuff tommorrow ^^ be sure to check out my wallpapers and let me know what you think ^^
stay strong,
Jason
Hello everyone and i thank you for visiting today. Id like to start things of a little differently in this post today. Today a friend of mine lost a close family member, someone his entire family cared about and looked up to with the absolute most amount of love and respect. I wont go into detail about it because he and his family deserve their privacy and respect right now during this tough time and i personally wanted to dedicate part of my post to the memory of his family member and the friendship and brotherhood he and i share. I consider him a brother and if he has lost, then i have lost as well and i just wanted to let him know that i am always here, no matter what lies on the road ahead.
There is a quote i heard an actor talk about during an interview once and since then, ive always managed to remember it. Everything about it seemed so right and i thought id post it up today so everyone could read it. Its a quote from "The Sheltering sky"
"Death is always on the way, but the fact that you don't know when it will arrive seems to take away from the finiteness of life. It is that terrible precision that we hate so much. But because we don't know, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember as certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps 4 and 5 times more. Perhaps not even. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet it all seems limitless."
Everytime i read this, it makes me want to stay up all night just to see the sun come up. And when i do, i wonder how many other people are doing the same thing. Since i work nights, I usually have the privelidge of seeing the sun come up just about every morning when i get off work, So i ask anyone who reads this-
If you ever get the chance, stop everything one morning and take the time to watch the sun come up. Maybe by yourself, or with someone you love, youll be amazed how something so simple can be so significant. I also ask you that if you have a significant other - take a few moments to look intotheir eyes for a minute or two. No talking or anything, youll be amazed how just a few moments can seem like a lifetime and youll be able to understand what the above quote means :)
As for me - today i havent been up to much. I fell asleep last night watching/recording an encore of thurdays' TNA wrestling program. I spent most of yesterday being lazy and eating while creating wallpapers and enjoying my weekend off work lol. Early this morning, around 3am, i found myself being awakend by a bad dream. I had a dream that one of my teeth had been broken , and i cant remember the rest, all i know is that it seemed pretty real when i was dreaming it. I then got up and rescanned & resized some of my artwork. Before - my artworks uploads were small clips because of the old rules here on theotaku that the clips had to be regulated to a certain size. Now that the overall size has increased, i was able to make the clips larger for everyones viewing pleasure ^^ I also ulpoaded some new wallpapers and watched 2 anime demo dvds , but im going to wait until tommorrow before i post the reviews, so that i can watch a little more throughout the rest of today.
Other than that, i havent been up to much today, just been trying to enjoy the rest of the weekend before i have to head to work tommorrow night.
well i suppose thats about it for today, i thank you all for visiting and i hope to chat with you all soon^^
stay strong
