Thanks for all the birthday wishes and gifts guys. I had a pretty relaxing birthday for the most part. I got a few cards and bought myself a copy of Lords Of Shadow and some steak. Christmas wasn’t too bad, either. I got some pajamas and chocolate and a Kindle. I just got done with The Holy Machine and it was pretty good. Predictable, but the main character’s detachment from almost everything, even himself, was pretty funny at times.
I paid off what debt I had yesterday. Feels good to be debt free~ Though I’ll likely wind up losing my job at the cake factory pretty soon (The demand for cakes declining after the Christmas boom and all.) and it looks like I won’t be able to replace my laptop for a while longer. Looks like I’ll have to make this thing last a while longer, though, with it’s broke CPU fan, faulty keyboard and lack of processing power, it’ll be a miracle if it lasts as long as I’ll need it to. But, should it turn to shit, at least I’ll be able to get online via my library card. Though library computer access is hardly that private/secure now days.
I went up town today to catch some hot sale-action. I got myself some pretty snazzy headphones and a copy of Final Fantasy XIII and a bathrobe and some clothes (The guy at the checkout was pretty gay/friendly. I probably should have flirted back a bit more.) and, best of all, I didn't get mugged by the sale-time muggers~
I noticed TheO is having a popularity contest this year (And that I got the first vote~ Thanks, UVERchan~) Surely no online drama will come of this contest. Surely.
I might have a night out next weekend, go to one of the local gay clubs or the rock club. I need to get out and about a bit more often, have a little fun.

I’ve been working at that cake factory for nearly two weeks now and so far everything seems to be working out reasonably well. I spent all but one day working with the Line 6 team in Zone One, which makes nothing but chocolate cakes. I would spend more than six hours a day either flipping cakes, aligning cakes for a frosting depositor, putting syrup on cakes and generally trying to space the cakes out to give the girls down the line enough time to frost the sides. All the while the guy at the front of the line kept loading ‘em on like a bat out of hell. Repetitive, but it beats sitting about doing nothing. Pays more than unemployment, too.
They had me working in the Low Risk zone on Friday, making trifle-like puddings. Smaller crew, louder machines, multitasking like a pro. Bastards thought I was Polish for the first three hours, wound up speaking to me in one of those fake, condescending accents. The kind that would piss you off if you were a Polish national or make you laugh at their silliness if you’re not.
The sis has been a right bitch lately. She’ll do something bitchy they try to take the defensive high ground when I confront her about it. Like on Wednesday, when she got me up at six in the morning because she had to “go to work” when she was just going out to see her girlfriend. And, given that I work night shifts, you can imagine that I wasn’t too pleased about her blasting Rhiana’s We Fell In Love In A Hopeless Place on repeat during her half hour long shower. I have half a mind to set my phone’s alarm to go off every fifteen minuets from 4AM-8AM the next time she has work.
My Birthday is on Saturday and, given my job, I likely won’t be having cake this year. I might just buy myself a steak and some strawberry wine. Maybe some strawberries and cream, too.

I've been working at the cake factory since Wednesday. I've mostly been flipping, painting and frosting chocolate cakes. As a result I can no longer smell cocoa or stomach cake. I guess I'll have a birthday steak this year.
On the bright side I have made a few work buddies. I've even gone drinking with 'em on two occasions. Not heavily, though. Only a pint one night and a pint the next and even that had me tipsy given I didn't eat for close to ten hours before hand.
I have the weekend off. I also have the living room to myself given the British stepdad is in Scotland this week, so I have late-night internet access~ My power convertor can only last for two hours tops though, but still~
I might meet up with my uncle on the 23rd. He'll be in town and apparently wants to catch up. Should be fun.

I’ve been somewhat successful with my job hunting. I managed to get hired by the local cake factory, where ill likely end up working in the chilled section, doing cake things. I went on a tour of the factory yesterday along with some other inductees (A short man from Africa, a tall guy from the city, a Russian couple and two guys that looked extremely gay, but not as gay as our French/Swiss instructor) and we got to see the conveyor belts in action. The walls had high-glossy photos of cakes on ‘em and the factory even has a built in cafeteria, so it looks like I won’t have to bring sandwiches with me.
Things have been pretty dull here for the most part. So far the local gay scene seems to be the abundant lesbian scene. They’re everywhere. I have a feeling I’m either the only single gay guy here or that I’m the straightest looking gay guy here. Either way, I’ve been rather unlucky in finding company. Even wearing my wool hat doesn’t seem to be working, a look that’s been 85% successful in the past.

I’ve been keeping myself busy lately with job hunting and, to a lesser extent, Christmas shopping. I have gifts in mind; the only problem is buying and wrapping them before the day and within my limited budget.
I picked up my glasses yesterday and got a haircut today. I’m gonna go up town on Thursday for a good part of the day so I have to look presentable. I might nip up there on Wednesday so I can look for a decent long coat before the events. Maybe see if I can land a job while I’m at it, too.
My laptop has been giving me some issues lately. The “e” key doesn’t work half the time and its taking tad longer to boot up. Hopefully I can land something newer before it completely kicks it. Looks like I’m gonna have to scale down on anything that uses RAM so I can squeeze a few more months out of this thing. Goodbye MSN messenger, you was the sweetest prince of them all~
